"You've lasted a lot longer than most of these doormen I've seen" he replied, handing a warm cup of tea to you. It was hours later, the mess was cleaned up and it looked like nothing happened, almost. It left you an uneasy feeling on the inside. He sat down and stared at you, his tired eyes following your every move as you drank the tea.

"Well thank you Francis, but i must go." You set the empty mug down and walked towards his door. You gave him a warm smile before walking out the door. As you got to the doorframe. You felt a hand grab your wrist,

"Stay."

"Excuse me?"

There was a guilty look in his eyes as you stood in the doorway. He looked embarrassed as he asked the question. It was odd but he seemed to want something. He held onto your arm begging for you to stay. After some convincing he let you go back to your apartment. You began to walk back to your apartment. It was a bit pathetic, you explained to him that you lived in the same floor as him but he still insisted you stay with him. Unlocking the door, a wave of relief washed over you, everything was normal. It brought a feeling of calmness as you walked through your sparsely filled apartment.

Hours later you fell asleep, it was an unsettling dream. There was a loud thumping in your dream. Getting louder and louder, Suddenly it woke you up. You stared around in the dark room looking for a light. As you switched the light on and walked towards your door. You recognized the voice. It was Francis, he sounded startled in a way. As you unlocked the door. he rushed in, out of breath and he looked more tired than normal. His face was bruised and bloody.

"Care to explain" You asked raising an eyebrow. A bit irritated he woke you up

"Uh- Nope." He replied, and slumped to the ground. He had passed out cold. You dragged him to your couch and set him there. As you cleaned his face your mind pondered with thoughts. Hours later as you sat and watched him. His eyes slowly fluttered open.

"Sorry." There was a look of embarrassment on his face as you stared in confusion. After questioning him you got an explanation. He was in a dispute with his Ex-Wife, she had forbid him to see his daughter and her new boyfriend had beat him up.

"I'm surprised, you don't seem like the kind to fight Francis." You smiled in amusement, as he got up and walked towards the door. He apologized for running towards your door, he thought it was his own.

God he's such a loser

He looked like so pathetic right now, It made you laugh. He seemed nonviolent, but the fact he had determination to see his daughter set a spark off in you. Who knows maybe the milkman was cuter than you thought.
