Chapter 28: A Halloween Surprise

Y/n POV

We made it back to Luz house and we saw Camila there but not Luz or Hunter. Gus said he remembered seeing some boxes of costumes down in the basement and brought it up to the living room to plan out our costumes. Vee went upstairs to rest from the day as we all looked through the boxes. Amity pulled up a Azura movie, she thought that she and Luz could go as the two love interests that are in the series. Willow already bought a costume but she was just looking through the boxes for fun. Gus wanted him and Hunter to go as some people from the book Hunter was talking about this morning. We hear the front door open and Luz and Hunter walk into the living room. "Hey we're back! And we bought some, uh, cars" Hunter says but Luz elbowed him to shut up. "Luz! We're designing our costumes for the Haunted Hayride" Amity told Luz. "Guess what I've got planned? I'm going to be Caption Avery and you're..." Gus said as he put on some sort of headset and he pulled out a communicator, showing it to Hunter. "Chief Engineer O'Bailey!" Hunter said, surprised and happy. "How do you know about Cosmic Frontier?" Camila asked, nervously. "Well, the book's in the basement" Hunter said, unnerved. "Oh! Funny how things just show up in basements, right!? Without you hiding them or putting them there! Haha, life sure is full of surprises!" Camila said as she was slowly freaking out. Everyone kinda just stared at her, not knowing what to do or say. "Cool! Humans freak out just like us!" Gus said to break the tension. "It will be fun! We want to experience your weird Human traditions" Willow said as she put on some fake vampire fangs. "And I thought you and I could take inspiration from... Good Witch Azura! The movie 2. The betrayanning" Amity said as she played a clip from the movie. "I could be the Hecate to your Azura" Amity said as she pulled up a drawing she did and walked up to Luz. "What do you think?" Amity asked her. "Oh wow, yeah lets do it!" Luz says as she hugs Amity. 

"What are you going to dress up as?" Hunter asked me as he sat down next to me. "I honestly don't know, I haven't dressed up for Halloween in years" I said. Last time was when I was invited to a Halloween party when I was 10, after that I never really had the need to dress up anymore. "Well, what about you go as- what was that movie Luz made us watch? With the three sisters?" Hunter said as he thought of the movie. "Do you mean Hocus Pocus? I mean- do you think I should dress up like a witch?" I asked him. "Oh yea! I mean- you know how actual witches act like and you lived in the demon realm for months so..." Hunter said and looked down. "Sure, I just have to make the costume, shouldn't be hard" I said and looked at him and spotted his fighter, which was wrapped up. "What happened to your finger?" I asked him as I pulled his hand towards me and inspected this injury. "Oh! I just cut myself while sewing!" Hunter said. I remember early that he only had a band-aid on but now it was wrapped in glaze. "Oh ok, please try and not hurt yourself again" I said. "Sure, no problem" Hunter said as he hugged me. Soon after we all had dinner, we went to bed. I saw something was bothering Luz but she wouldn't open up to me when I asked. Soon enough, it was Halloween night and the town was all decorated. Everyone was squished into Camila's car as she drove us downtown. I made my costume and decided to go as Sarah from Hocus Pocus. We all got out of the car and hid our palisman while Luz talked to her mom. "All right, We'll keep the puzzle a secret till the time is right! And then we'll tell her about the Titan Blood!" Amity said when we were far enough from Luz. I looked over at Hunter and he seemed off, looking into the woods. "Did you hear that?" Hunter asked himself under his breath while flapjack shook his head no. 'Belos, Belos is inside of his head' I thought and held Hunter's hand. He looked over at me and gave me a small smile and squeezed my hand. 

"It was probably just in my head again" Hunter said quietly and FlapJack went into his frozen form as Hunter put him in his shirt. I looked at the back of his neck and saw the same green color slime growing on his neck. 'Shit, this isn't good... What should I do?' I wondered as Luz made her way over to us. "We're gonna have the best night and we might even have a surprise for you!" Amity said to Luz as she led the way for us. "Yea... me too" Luz said and we walked around the place. We made it to a spot where they were putting on a small play that looked like it was about the Witch trials. 'Why must everywhere we go, there has to be something to do with witches...' I wondered. "I hath seen Mrs Smith consorting with spirits impure" the actor said. "Is this true Mrs Smith?" The jury actor asked the witch actor. "Nay, tis a fool lie! Inquisitor Jones is tarring me a demon's varlet so as to take mine fields!" The witch actor said. "Demon lie's!" The actor said but Gus jumped in. "Your honor, I do object! It is inquisitor Jones who's is league with the dark force!" Gus said as he jumped onto the stage. "Kid come on, this is my spotlight" The actor said to Gus. "Behold!" Gus said and made the illusions of the man having demon legs and ripped off his pants. The actor screamed and ran off the stage as the witch actor gave Gus a kiss on the check. Everyone started cheering and clapping but stopped when Jacob pushed them away. "Why are you clapping?" Jacob asked and jumped the rope (or tried too). "These children are demon spawn! And they want your teeth!" Jacob said and pulled off Gus's ear gear. "Look! Look at his ears! He's from Mars!" Jacob said. "Hey! Lay off the costume man!" Gus said to Jacob but some security guards came and tackled Jacob. Gus and I managed to catch up with the others (they left when Gus jumped onto the stage) and we boarded the hayride. "I hope you're all prepared for a truly scary ride" Masha said while Willow and Gus started to chant 'make us cry!'. "Because there's nothing scarier than knowledge!" Masha said in a creepy way. "Boo, just lie to me!" Gus said and he gave her a thumbs down. 'Gus is so outgoing today' I thought as the ride started to move.
