"O, did you know mum was kidnapped?" Asher Rose asks, looking over a piece of article. The newsletter old and wearing away. He holds it up as Olivette tilts her head and walks over to him away from the box she was currently looking in.
"When?" Olivette asks, reaching out for the newsletter. Asher holds it up to her and she takes it, looking it over. Asher watches his sister's face, her green eyes flicking back and forth through the words on the page. He stays silent, the information rolling around in his head over and over again. "What the- Asher this is not good."
"Did you see what the last paragraph said?" Asher says nodding. Olivette looks down and swiftly reads. Her eyes go wide. "A known and most wanted criminal kidnapped her."
"Is there anything else about this?" Olivette asks, slowly moving the article in her hands down. Asher turns his head and looks back into the box looking around, moving stuff with his hands before feeling something. He tilts his head and pulls it out of the box and holds it up. Both the kids stare at the key in his hands. Their eyes full of curiosity.
"Welp this calls for an adventure," Asher smirks and looks to his sister who's raising one brow.
"Adventure to where? We have no idea what those go to," Olivette reasons and Asher shrugs.
"You and I both know there has to be something that tells us what it goes to. It has to be here somewhere."
"Asher Rose! Olivette Jasmin!" Everlynn's voice calls out. Both kids jump. Eyes go wide on the both of them. Hurriedly Olivette runs over to the window, moving the dusty curtain out the way see Everlynn looking around the backyard. The young girl's eyes going wide as she glances over her shoulder to her brother whose eyes are wide. He drops his head and shoves everything back into the box he was going through, however he glances up to his sister briefly seeing Olivette looking back out the window. With that he slides a couple things into his back pocket before standing and heading over.
"Is she looking this way?" Asher asks in a hushed voice. Olivette shakes her head from side to side. Asher nods back and slowly grab a hold of the knob and peaks his head out the small crack. His eyes find Everlynn standing at the house looking the completely opposite way. He nods and reaches his hand up behind him for his sister to grab. His green eyes stay glued on their aunt for a few long strung-out moments before he feels Olivette's freezing fingers slide into his hand. The moment their hands lock together he begins exiting the building. The young girl right behind him.
The two slip out and close the door silently. They run fast around the building and take off, unseen through bushes and trees. They knew all the hiding spots on the property. Every single inch of it, they knew by heart. It was all they ever did. Explore. It's what the twins knew best. Exploring and make believe playing. Alycia didn't allow them electronics. The fear of them finding out about her past terrified her. She didn't want to answer questions. She didn't want the twins to know what she went through. But she knew one day they'd have questions about their birth father. That's a conversation she wouldn't ever be ready for.
"ASHER ROSE! OLIVETTE JASMIN!" Everlynn shouts as the twins shoot down, staying low to the ground in the tall grass. Olivette's eyes look to her brother. They may be twins but it always seemed to Olivette that Asher was older. He protected her. No matter the situation. Whether serious or play, Asher was her guardian. And she would do anything for him.
