George Russell POV

I had to up my game if I wanted this to work, so I did it, slowly but surely. Summer break helped since I was in London for work in the first week, and then I would travel for two weeks. I would wake up on that week with her by my side. I would take her to her apartment, I would eat breakfast with her, and slowly, it worked until I woke up on my last day in London; today, I would ask her out to see if this happened so it could be over with.

"It's a good day today; I will walk home; no need to drop me off," she says as we finish breakfast, and I nod.

"Or we could go out," I suggest calmly.

"Are you asking me out? Like on a date, Russell?" The idea amuses her, and I almost immediately wish I could take it back.

"I might be, is that a crime?" I use the same tone, and she laughs.

"It could be; we could try it, but I doubt that's a good idea. Water and vinegar don't mix," she warns me, and I nod.

"I wouldn't worry about it," I say confidently, but she seems suspicious.

"Are you on drugs?" She wanted to reassure herself that I was alright, and it honestly made me laugh.

"I am not on drugs. You can just say no if you don't want to go. It was just a question," I say as I walk to the sink, leaving our plates there.

"Let's go then; it might be a fun experience. I've dated worse," she says casually, and I nod.

"You sure have; you are awful at choosing boyfriends," I joke, and she laughs.

"I would never choose you."

"Proves my point; I am a good choice for a boyfriend," I say cheekily, and she nods apprehensively.

"Why are you single then?" She asks mockingly, and I get closer to her, touching her chin and making her look up at me.

"I like to have fun, but since my whole source of fun comes from you, I might want to settle down. Is that crazy enough that I have to be drugged to say it? I may need some alcohol for courage, but I am traveling tonight. So I had to do it sober," I might not be lying as the words leave my mouth, but I would like to believe I'm such a good liar I can believe my own lies.

"Is this some kind of dare? What will you win if you take me on a date?" She is even more suspicious now, and my heart raced. How did she know?

"Like I would risk doing that. You have too much of a big family for me to mess with it," I say as I lean closer, and she kisses me herself.

"Let's go then," she says happily, and I smile.

"Let's see if I can surprise you. Bring the camera, you will want it," I say as I head to the bedroom to get dressed.

And it went better than I thought. I took her to some places further away from London she still didn't know. Her camera really was handy, she even took some photos of me. What surprised me most was the pictures she took of both of us. She even tried to teach me how to take pictures, and I took some of her.

I learned that we could spend a day together and talk without anybody killing each other without us being drunk, asleep, or having sex. We were having dinner when I caught myself looking at her for way too long. And she noticed too.

"Do I have something on my face?" She asks worriedly. I shake my head quickly in response.

"No. I just got lost in my thoughts; I'm sorry," I say honestly, and she nods, unbothered.

"When is your flight?" She asks and I look at the clock-

"In 3 hours. Do you want to join?" I ask, and both of us get quiet as we look at each other.

"What?" She is speechless, and I smile proudly. Two times in a day is a first.

"Do you want to join me on my vacation? We could have some fun, my family likes you already. Alex and Lily were supposed to join me in a few days too."

"I think we would be pushing our luck. I want to make it to the end of the summer alive," she says as she brings the cup to her lips.

"You will make it out alive, maybe just slightly annoyed. We started this; how about just going along with it? Or you could join when your brother does; the offer is on the table," I also take a sip of my wine, and she smiles as she squints her eyes suspiciously.

"Are you falling for me, Georgie?" she asks teasingly as her feet touch my leg, and I smirk.

"It wouldn't be the end of the world, would it, Mellie?" I ask, and she laughs at the newfound nickname.

"Mellie? Oh God, you fell hard, uh? Poor George, fell for the wrong person," she kept teasing me, and I leaned closer.

"We aren't less of a person for falling for someone, not everyone is like him. I am not like him and I won't be. Keep running from it as you want, I will wait for you to take the offer or not. The ball is on your court now," I say calmly and she listened attentively.

"I'm not scared of being abused," she says with a serious expression.

"What are you afraid of then?" I ask teasingly.

"Of getting my heart broken for the first time. I prefer to keep it guarded and protected. No one will get to it, not even you. So take that charm away Russell," her words made me gulp nervously.

Her heart has been broken before. She was beaten and abused by that dickhead, I know it. She must've loved him. Right? I am not the one who's going to break it. This is just a joke; dating for a couple of months won't do irreparable damage. Right? She will be fine. I will be fine. This is just some fun for ego-crushing.
