Melanie Albon POV

I woke up to a very thinkative George, he offered for us to go for brunch since we slept in and we ordered but as we waited I got curious.

"Did something happen before I woke up?" I ask curiously.

"Nothing much. Your abusive ex called me and texted, he plans to finish what he started whenever he can find you alone. I also found out he got out 3 weeks ago so I truly appreciate the warning, I am honored to know that psychopath is out," his words almost paralyzed me.

"I- Well, I didn't expect him to be able to reach out to you, how did he have your number?" I ask confusedly.

"I don't know and I don't care. All I care is that he is planning on abusing you, and you didn't even tell anyone he was a free man until the court hearing. You need protection, he is not normal," he is worried and I get it, I am still Alex's sister.

"I have security in my building, I will be fine. I spend most of the year traveling, he will disappear before we know it," I say calmly as I take a sip of my drink and he leans back, letting out a sigh.

"Can you stay at my place when you are in London? Please," he pleads, and I am surprised.

"There's no need to go that far, George; whenever I'm home, you usually are too," I am worried he might attack me; there is a chance I will go get groceries, and he will be ready to kidnap me or something, but I can't live in fear.

"I will need to tell Alex if you don't let me help in any way. I can't make you come to your senses, but he might be able to. You are putting your life in danger; he is a monster; he is capable of killing you if he has to," he warns me, and I nod.

"Can you let me enjoy the nine days of vacation left? I will work something out, it's not your problem. It never should've been," I ask and he nods.

"You have nine days to come to a solution, or I'm saying something," he looks more relieved, and some of our order arrives.

"Alex arrives at the end of the day. I should try and get a room, or he will think something is wrong; it's rare for us to last 24 hours a day together," I comment as I scroll through my phone and see Lily sending me bikini options for her. All would look good on her if we are being honest.

"He already knows, I told him it was worthless to keep booking another room when you always sleep on mine and he kind of agreed," he is unbothered and I just chuckle.

"Fine by me, it's your money either way. I'm gonna send you the pics so you can post them whenever you want," I say as I select the pictures and send them all to him, the buzzing on his phone never stopping and he stops and looks at me.

"It had to be now? I was seeing a real good tiktok and now I have a damn vibrator as a phone," he says before it finally stops.

"See? It wasn't that bad," I smirked, and he rolled his eyes.

We decided to go to the beach, and since Alex rented his own car, they would meet us at the hotel. I was relaxing in my towel when a sudden shadow appeared, and it wasn't George. He had gone to the nearby bar to get us some drinks. This man was a total stranger who was a few meters away from his friends.

"I just wanted to try my luck even if in an unusual place," he says awkwardly and I chuckle as I sit down while considering if I should get up. I looked up at him and I can't say he wasn't gorgeous.

"What would you consider luck?" I ask curiously and he shrugs.

"You answered me, so I feel pretty good," he smiles, and god damn, what a smile. If I wasn't here with George I would've acted on it but I had no intention on doing so, I need George to think I do though. Jealousy looked good on him, and I saw him approaching as I got up with the help of the blonde guy, so this was a good chance.

"Didn't you see the guy that's with me?" I ask as I smile at him.

"I did but he didn't behave like a boyfriend so I went for it," he shrugs it off and I laugh.

"Hey," I hear George's voice as he stops by our side, giving me my drink. His eyes focus on the guy in front of me.

"So, can I get your number, or did I misread the situation?" He tilts his head in George's direction, and I laugh.

"Can you get me my phone?" I ask as I look at George; his eyebrows rise in surprise as his mouth opens and then closes.

"I don't think so, you should go," his tone wasn't friendly, and his arm wrapped around me, making me take a step back, and my back hit his chest.

"You know where I'm at if you change your mind, I would make it public if it were me, a woman like you shouldn't be hidden," he says before heading off to where his friends were.

George's arm dropped, and he turned me to him less than a second later.

"Were you going to give him your number?" He asks as his eyes lock on mine.

"I might've. Why would you mind?" I ask as I look away and his hand grabs my chin rather gently.

"Let's do this. If you want some fun, come to me, and I will come to you only," he suggests, and I squint my eyes in suspicion.

"Enemies with benefits and exclusiveness? I don't see that working out," I am skeptical, but this would be a good step to make him fall; maybe he already did.

"Why not? I can please you, and you can please me. What would work out then?" He is insistent, and I can taste the win.

"Because we are not the type of person to settle for one person, much less each other," I say as I prepare to go to the water, putting down my drink and sunglasses.

"It's not settling, I would like to keep this between us."

"Do you wanna be my boyfriend, Georgie?" I ask mockingly.

"Keep dreaming, Mellie," and that nickname apparently stuck.

"I am not the one with jealousy," I tease him, and he laughs as he follows me to the water.
