"I think, they owned slaves."
"Really, that, can't be true?
"I took a ride with some other teenagers, and I saw his family's place. That's the rumor Josephine. Believe it, or not. The rumor that that big mansion was worked by...."
"Ladies."
Elijah spoke to the two girls who analyzed we're talking during, the video, that was being shown in class.
"No." My friend Alexanderia said quickly
"What about you "Miss...."
He asked and questioned me, but my Professor had to look at his desk, as he was at first in the corner observing the class, but now he had left the corner and gone to the tv and had noticed us talking as he put a hand on it and looked at the class then at us talking.
"Ah, yes, here. "Ms. Washington?" He looked at me
I shook my head, "no, apologies, Mr....."
But he raised his eyebrows at my struggling.
"I mean "Professor Mikaelson."
The class laughed and he smiled.
But, Alexandria then spoke, "Actually, I do have a question Mr. Mikealson now that we are on the subject of learning about the slave trade and the Civil War. But, maybe another time."
His face suddenly sparked with admiration as he held a hand out and said in his well-dressed suit with his tie and his expensive watch on his wrist, and he spoke.
"Please, if you have a question, both of you ask, it." He said as he looked at my friend and his eyes then went to me. To tell the truth. I did not like, to be the center of attention in class. Even, when, crowds stared, it just made me nervous. I had been in the class long enough, but, I was still new to some of the faces, and new to town, even though I knew their names, but didn't know them personally. I just made one friend so far, with Alexandria. She knew the whole town and the whole school. However, I knew, what she was going to ask him. I shook my head, at my friend for her, not ask him and answer. Alexandria did not like that the town had a lot of history of slaves working on the plantation and had pointed out that some people in town, might be prejudiced. I was always uncomfortable talking about the topic anyway, and the history, I knew history was important, but still I didn't like to talk about it. Elijah seemed to be watching me, though, he was watching me hard, I could tell as the whole class had turned around to look at us. Now, I was really uneasy in my chair and uncomfortable. I shook my head at Alexandria and said, "Don't."
