A/N: violence & swearing

It was safe to say Liam felt uneasy, the way his leg bounced the entire car drive and the way his hand trembled, it was an obvious sign of anxiety.

"I'll be right with you," Theo soothed, parking his truck as they arrived at his house. Today was the day, Liam was going to dump Asher and leave him for good. After a few days to come to terms with the upcoming change, he was finally ready to end their relationship.

After Asher had hit him he couldn't turn back, no amount of apologies or begging would change his mind. If you love someone you don't hit them, Liam may be naive but he wasn't clueless.

Theo was helping him realise his worth, he was worth more than what Asher was giving him. He just needed to take the first step and break up with him, but he feared the worst.

If Asher hit him once who's to say he won't do it again? That's why Theo was going inside with him, despite it being his house and his brother, he didn't want to see Liam get hurt.

"I won't let him touch you," Theo promised, he didn't care if he had to punch Asher himself. He wasn't going to condone that kind of behaviour towards Liam, it disgusted him.

The guy who taught him how to play uno and soccer was an abuser, it rubbed him the wrong way completely. He'd never be able to look at Asher the same way again, not after this.

"He's going to be mad," Liam said, his lips pouting as he looked up at Theo. "I don't like when he gets mad at me," his voice trailed off into a whisper as be looked out the window.

"Say your peace, grab your shit and we will leave," Theo replied, keeping his tone somewhat firm as he knew he had to be the stronger one right now.

Liam was soft, too soft. Especially when it came to Asher and history had proven that, he couldn't let Liam back out now. Not when they were so close to putting everything to rest and moving on, starting new lives as individuals.

Liam nodded, taking a deep breath before reaching for the door handle and stepping out of the vehicle. He looked at the door with watery eyes, already fearful of the confrontation this may cause.

"I should do this alone," Liam said, before Theo could object he continued. "He's going to be immediately angry if he sees you come in with me, i won't even get the chance to get an apology if you're with me."

Theo bit his tongue, he knew Liam was right. Although he didn't love the idea of Liam going in there alone, he wanted to give them both the chance to talk privately. "I'll wait out here, leave the door open so I can hear if he raises his voice."

Liam nodded, "thank you Theo," he said. His hand brushing Theo's shoulder before he knocked on the door, twisting the handle it opened. "Hello?"

He peeked his head around the door, seeing Asher sitting on the couch with his legs kicked onto the coffee table. "There you are! I've been calling and texting you, the fuck gives?" Asher said, jumping to his feet.

Liam immediately retreated, backing himself up against the door causing Asher to pause his movement. "Y-you hit me," Liam mumbled, "I didn't exactly want to be around you after that."

Asher raised a brow, "that was like a week ago? I said I was sorry why can't you just move past it? I didn't mean to hurt you, I love you. Let's just go back to how things were," Asher placed a hand on Liam's shoulder but the younger boy shrugged it off, "Liam?"

"We should break up," Liam spat out, his words mashing together as he met Asher's confused eyes with terrified ones. He bit his lip in fear as Asher's eyes squinted, he didn't know what to do or what to say.

"You want to break up?" Asher snorted, a small nod following his movements. "You're funny, come on," he tugged on Liam's arm but Liam pulled back, "Liam," Asher's tone was almost threatening.

"I don't want to be with you," Liam said, pulling his arm back. "You don't treat me right, you hurt me and you make me feel like shit. I'm not happy being with you anymore Asher," his voice wavered as he spoke.

"You're being ridiculous and dramatic, let's just cuddle and watch tv. You like tv, we can watch a movie and I'll make us some popcorn, go sit down."

"No."

Asher's brows furrowed, "no?" He snorted, "you're seriously dumping me? You?" He crossed his arms, "let me get this straight, the nerdy little loser who can't take a hit and all of a sudden I'm the bad guy? You're not dumping me, I'll dump you."

"Go ahead," Liam replied, one way or another he was leaving this house single. He didn't care if he got dumped, this was just proving his point. He hated how blind he had been to this behaviour, only now seeing it in such clear light made him sick.

"No," Asher snapped, "you're not leaving me."

"I am," Liam replied, "you fucking hit me Asher, what did you think was going to happen? I ran to Mason's in tears! You hurt me and I can't forgive you for that, we're done, this is over."

Asher took a step closer, "you think you can leave me?" He asked, his tone cold and haunting as he continued walking forward. With every step he took, Liam took one back until his back was pressed against the wall.

"Asher please," Liam said, turning his face to the side unable to even look the man he once loved in the eye. "This is already hard enough you don't need to make it worse," he begged.

"Oh? I'm making it worse am I?" Asher snapped, his emotions running high as he finally processed just how serious Liam was. His fists curled as he aimed them at the wall, pinning Liam between him.

"Asher stop it!" Liam screamed, but before Asher could do more harm the door bursted open. As soon as Theo came into vision, Asher pushed Liam to the ground and charged for him.

"This is your fault!" Asher yelled, his eyes full of hatred and anger. "You did this! You ruined everything!"

Theo rolled them over so that he was on top, "no! You ruined your own relationship Asher! You fucked up! Take some fucking responsibility!"

Asher took that chance to throw a punch to Theo's stomach, sending his twin rolling to the side of the ground winded. Following right after, he began kicking him.

"Asher stop it!" Liam yelled, rushing towards them only for Asher to push him back. Liam fell over the coffee table and onto the ground, his head hitting the tv cabinet.

"See what happens? You did this! You!" Asher yelled, pointing a finger at Liam. "You couldn't just fucking be happy could you? You had to be selfish!"

Liam curled up, throwing his hands over his head to protect himself as Asher raised his fist. He waited for the punch, but it never came. Blue eyes peeked open to see Asher pinned against the wall by his father, "Theo?"

"I'm ok," Theo wheezed out, getting to his feet and stumbling towards Liam. "Are you ok?" He asked, inspecting if the younger boys body and face.

"My head hurts," Liam replied, touching the back of his head and surprised to see no blood. "I hit the cabinet," he said, his head tender and sore to touch.

Theo winced, "you'll probably have a bruise," he said inspecting the injury as best he could. Liam's longer hair made it difficult to see through, but he was sure Liam would be okay. "Go get your stuff," he said.

Liam nodded, walking past them to grab his hoodie and jersey from Asher's room, those being the only things he wanted back from this relationship.

"Liam don't," Asher said, for once showing emotion as he spoke. But Liam knew better, he was only trying to manipulate him. But not anymore, Liam wouldn't allow it.
