CHAPTER 19

"hi."chris looks infuriated at mavis and she gulps. she expected it obviously, she had ignored him after their almost kiss. but seeing him up close, his beautiful face twisted in anger, scared her.
he doesn't say anything as she steps aside and pulls the door wider, letting him walk inside. as a sign of respect for the asian household, he wedges off his shoes at the door and follows her into the kitchen.
he's not going to hurt you, she whispers to herself in the back of her mind but she knows on the inside, she's huddled up in the corner again with her hands over her head.
"so, are you going to explain why you've been ignoring me?" chris sharply broke through the silence, cutting straight to the point, as he leaned on his elbows on the counter between the kitchen and living room.
mavis rounded the kitchen island and stayed silent as she poured her guest a glass of water. a shaky breath rang through her lungs as she forced herself to calm down before a frenzy of panic broke through her.
"look, mavis, i get it if you don't like me that way, but you don't have to go ignoring me," chris pushes. "we're still friends, you can't just pretend like i'm some stranger that came onto you. and, in my defense, you completely acted like you were into me just to blow me off when i tried to kiss you. mavis, you led me on and now i look like a complete idiot for just trying to get your attention after i tried to kiss you."
"chris-"
"and now, you probably think i'm some weird obsessive kid. but you know what, i'm not!" chris rambled, waving his hands around. "it's not my fault that you led me on to think that you liked me and it's not my fault that i decided to make a move on this pretty girl that has become one of my closest friends. so, i'm sorry if you don't feel the same way and if i made you uncomfortable, but i don't deserve to be ignored like this."
