drew chuckles at the girl's stiff posture and her nerves only increase as he moves closer to her.

"what, can't i say hi to an old friend?"

his voice is teasing, sending shivers down her spine in disgust. her gaze flickered to his and the anger in her eyes flamed while the discomfort in her body rose. "we're not friends," she hissed lowly. "and, no, actually. you can't."

she pushed off of the railing, making a move towards the far end of the patio before being trapped by yet another person. her ginger hair swayed in the wind as she leaned heavily on the railing and her smug grin gleamed with expensive lip gloss. mavis has to pinch her thigh to make sure this wasn't some vivid nightmare.

"leaving so soon?" kaylee pouted. "i didn't even get a chance to talk to you yet."

if mavis' nerves and discomfort weren't bad before, they were hella out of control now. her thumb tapped on her other fingers, an anxiety habit she acquired from elise. tap, tap, tap. "hi, kaylee." mavis sent her a false smile. "there. now you got a chance to talk."

"how's your new boyfriend?" she simply replied with an smile. "you know, after he got dumped by me. it's a little bit of a downgrade for him, don't ya think?"

mavis stayed silent, her jaw tightening as she held her tongue back from snapping back with a retort. tap, tap, tap. she wasn't wrong. but she wasn't right either. judging by kaylee's personality, mavis wasn't a downgrade at all. at least she had a heart.
