I am walking down the street without having a destination in mind. I just want to clear my head. A sidewalk probably isn't the best idea to clear my head, but I don't feel like going somewhere else. Something has slipped my mind and I'm trying to remember what it is.
Something comes to mind. Maybe I could remember if I look at my holo-watch.
I look at my holo-watch. 14:22.
My holo-watch shows just the time when you look at it. It looks like the watches I learned about in history class. Apparently a long time ago people used something called a "watch." It only displayed the time. An electronic watch, the closest kind of watch to a holo-watch, was invented in 19 something. It was closer to the late 20th century, I think. Still all it really showed was the time. Some of the electronic watches showed the date. Still, a watch is nothing like a holo-watch.
The difference between a "watch" and a "holo-watch" is that holo-watches have many more features. I could never live without a holo-watch! I would forget things and get lost and.... I can't even think of all the things that could go wrong!
I touch and it brings up a hologram showing info.
The current time is displayed with other info, such as my name, number, other important information about me, and a schedule.
I click the schedule button and my schedule comes up.
The next thing on my schedule today is a checkup at 14:45.
Wait. 14:45???? That's soon! I better hurry.
I look at my schedule again. It says it is at the hospital and not the checkup center.
Oh right.... Today is my check up every 6th months.
I don't have my bike, so I can't bike there. It would probably take too long, anyway.
My best bet would be to get a ride to the hospital.
I walk over to the nearest bus stop. I then walk a little past it. Here is where people can get a ride to somewhere.
I look for somebody taking people to the hospital.
I check my holo-watch. 14:25.
I see someone whose vehicle says "Rides to hospital" on it.
I walk over.
"Are you giving rides to the hospital?" I ask.
"Yes, I am. It will be 15 dollars. You can pay once we get to the hospital. You can get in the back row," he says.
"Thank you. When does it leave?" I ask.
He checks his holo-watch and then says, "Right now."
I open the door to his vehicle and go into the back row. There are 3 seats in the back most row, unlike the other 4 rows (not including the driver's row) which have 2. There is only 1 seat available, the seat in the middle, so I take it.
The person to my right is using their holo-watch. I don't know what they are doing as they have it set so only they can see what they are doing.
The person to my left looks around my age. She has long flowing brown hair. She is looking at a phone of some sort. She has a hologram up. It is like the hologram that comes up on the holo-watch as it is a rectangle. The difference is that the top and bottom are much shorter in length than the sides.
I don't socialize during the ride. Both of the people next to me seem to be busy. The two people in the row ahead of me seem like they don't want anyone in their conversation. It would be hard to talk to anyone in any rows farther up than the row in front of me.
What was it that I forgot? It must have not been important.
I am still trying to remember what I forgot. I finally come to the conclusion that it probably wasn't important.
"Do you still remember?" someone asks me.
"Yes," I reply.
"Do you still grieve?" the same person asks me.
"Yes," I reply.
"You can forget," the person says.
"How?" I ask.
"It's simple. Remove anything that will remember you of them. Get busy doing other things." the person replies.
"That sounds easy enough," I say.
A flashback. When did that happen? Why would I want to forget somebody? Was that what I was forgetting?
I notice the vehicle has come to a stop. People are getting up.
I should ask the doctor about what has been happening. I think to myself.
I walk into the hospital. I scan my holo-watch on a machine. Then a hologram comes up showing me to the doctor's office.
I go where the hologram tells me to go and I end up in a waiting room.
An android at the desk says, "Miss, please scan your holo-watch here."
I do as she says.
"Dr. Jensen should be with you soon," she says.
I check my holo-watch. 14:43... So I shouldn't have to wait long.
I think about reading one of the magazines, but I decide against it. I will not have to be waiting long anyway.
"Patient Rin, Dr. Jensen is ready to see you," the android says.
I go up to the door to the left of the desk.It opens when I am near. It closes after I have gone in.
"Follow me," a different android says. I follow her.
We soon reach Dr. Jensen's room. I go in with a feeling of excitement and fear. Today changes are supposed to happen. I am 13 after all. 13 is the year when the most changes happen. When I become an adult.
AN: So in this story I use military time.
If you don't understand how military time works, I will tell you.
Instead of being a 12 hour, it is 24 hour. So instead of going to 1 o'clock after 12, it goes to 13 o'clock. Then it goes to 14 o'clock, then 15 o'clock and so on. After 24 o'clock it goes to 0, or midnight.
