Chapter 8: Who cares about her?

Betty woke up at 6:15 am, showered, brushed her teeth, and ate breakfast all before leaving her house at 7:30 am. As she walked to the school, her mind couldn't help but wonder to a certain beanie-wearing boy.

Why the fuck is he so handsome?! She thought.

The walk to RH (once again, still Riverdale High) was short. Once she arrived at the school and opened the dark brown doors, she felt a sense of relief wash over her. Betty couldn't help but always feel at home here. She loved working with at the Blue & Gold, the school's newspaper.

Home sweet home

" Hey B!" Veronica greeted, her best friend.

" Oh hey! What are you doing here so early?" Asked Betty, she was grateful for her best friend, but sometimes she could be a little too much.

" Well, I need to ask you a question," Veronica confessed.

" Okayyy?" Betty answered suspiciously.

" Are Jughead and Toni dating? I mean, I see them together all the time, and knowing you, you were best friends when he still went here, so do you think you could see if they are?" Veronica asked.

Betty cringed at the thought of Toni and Jughead dating, Veronica noticed.

" Hey B, is everything okay?"

Betty nodded not wanting to explain herself, but of course Veronica saw right through her.

" Betty, I am your best friend, I know when you're not okay," Veronica stated.

She let out a sigh, " I may have the tiniest crush on Jughead."

Veronica's eyes opened wide, " You're kidding right?"

" I'm sorry," Betty apologized.

" Why?"

She looked at Veronica with a confused expression, " You asked me if Toni and Jughead were dating, meaning that you like him too."

" You've got to be kidding me right?" Veronica laughed. " I don't have a crush on Jughead!"

Betty looked at her, confused again, " Then why the hell do you want to know if Toni and Jughead are dating?"

Veronica playfully rolled her eyes, " Because silly, I have a crush on Toni!"

This time it was Betty who's eyes opened, " Are you joking around because if you are, that's not nice."

" What?" Veronica exclaimed, " Of course not, besides have you seen Toni she is hot!"

" That she most certainly is," Betty mumbled under her breath.

" What was that?" Veronica asked.

" Nothing, it's just," Betty started, unsure of how to explain how she feels.

" Come on spill," Insisted Veronica.

She let out another sigh, " It's just...I really like Jughead and seeing him with Toni all the time..it hurts, I just wish he was mine."

" Wow, you've got it bad," Veronica remarked.

" Shut up!" She playfully hit Veronica on the arm. " We've got 5 minutes until class," she saw as she checked her phone.

" Message received," Veronica said, and she walked away headed towards her first class.

Betty's first class of the day was Math and as much as she hated it, she also loved it because she would get to see Jughead. So, with a smile on her face, Betty skipped ( yes I mean literally skipped) to first period.
