~ RICHIE'S POV
Today has felt like an eternity, dragging on with endless traffic and turns. The drama surrounding my life has only intensified, leaving me feeling completely out of sync. It's as if time is slipping through my fingers, racing at a pace I can't comprehend.
I find myself in the confines of my room, hastily preparing for a crucial meeting with the Portuguese, one of my most important clients. Despite being thirty minutes behind schedule, I brush it off confidently. After all, I'm Richard Maranzano, and no meeting dares to commence without my presence.
As I gently brush through my hair, carefully styling it with a dab of gel, I reach for my sleek tuxedo. I honestly shouldn't be wasting too much time in getting freer. Time is of the essence, and I can't afford to spend too long getting ready especially when I have so many things to do. After my meeting with the Portuguese, I have a whole list of tasks to tackle, including checking up on Ezra. Papa warned me that Ezra is becoming quite a handful, and I'm afraid he might be right. Dealing with his constant tantrums and erratic behavior has become incredibly challenging. It feels like every day is a new battle with him like he's a wild man driven by his own foolishness.
Letting out a weary sigh, I spritz perfume all over my body, adding a touch of sophistication to my attire. Just then, a knock on the door interrupts my preparations. "Come in," I say, my voice tinged with a hint of impatience. The door swings open, revealing one of the servants. I catch a glimpse of him through the mirror, his gaze fixed on the ground as always. "What do you need?" I ask, trying to maintain my demeanor amidst the chaos.
"Papa sent me to find you. He wants to have a word with you before you leave." the servant responds.
"Alright," I reply, feeling a mixture of curiosity and anxiety. "I will be there in the minute."
As the servant walks away, I take a moment to finish preparing myself before I leave the room. Whenever Papa summons me for a conversation, my heart starts racing. It's always about something important, and I can't help but worry that I might not be capable of fulfilling the task at hand. I have so much on my hand right now and adding to it will just make things worse for me seriously when it's a difficult task that requires patience but Papa doesn't want that.
Walking into the study room where Papa is, I speak in Italian, the only language he and I normally communicate with. "Buon pomeriggio papà, ho sentito che mi stai cercando. [Good afternoon Papa, I heard you are looking for me.]" My relationship with Papa is quite formal; it's more like an employee and boss thing. It's not the typical father-son connection that you see in movies. It's all about professionalism and getting the job done.
"Sì, io sono. Devo dirti una cosa prima che te ne vada. [Yes I am. I need to tell you something before you leave.]"
"C'è qualche problema [Is there any problem?]" I ask, concerned.
"Ci sarà, se non prendi subito la ragazza [There will be if you don't get the girl immediately.]"
"Ma papà, c'è ancora tempo [But papa, there's still time]"
"Non abbiamo molto tempo, non possiamo gestire Erza a lungo. Sta diventando un problema per noi. [We don't have much time, we can't handle Erza for long. He is becoming trouble for us.]" He yells his frustration evident in his voice.
"Ho Ezra sotto controllo, non devi preoccuparti per lui [I have Ezra under control you don't have to worry about him]" I say
"Non mi preoccupo, stupido! Non si tratta solo di Ezra ma di tutti gli altri. Non mi interessa se Ezra ha il controllo o meno, voglio che tu porti a termine questo lavoro il prima possibile [I'm not worrying, you fool! This is not just about Ezra but about everyone else. I don't care if Ezra is in control or not, I want you to get this job done as soon as possible]"
I don't think Papa will ever understand that some things are meant to take time. What he's asking me to do is something that requires gradual time. I can't just rush things, it doesn't happen that way. Although, I can't say no to him as well. I have never in my life for once ever thought of saying no to him. He is someone I can't say no to no matter what he asks me to do.
As always, I just nod and give in "Ok papà, qualunque cosa tu dica [Okay Papa, whatever you say.]"
"Bene! E per quanto riguarda Ezra, ho bisogno che tu prepari quelle scosse elettriche. Devo renderlo il più settimanale possibile [Good! And as for Ezra, I need you to get those electric shocks ready. I need to make him as weak as possible]"
I nodded and looked at Brad. He understood the message and gave me a nod in response."Le scosse elettriche saranno pronte presto [The electric shocks will be ready soon.]"
"Bene. Puoi andare ora [Good. You may go now]"
As I was getting ready to make my exit, I heard Papa's voice calling out my name. It caught my attention, and I turned around, curious to see what he had to say.
"Assicurati di fare il trasloco domani. La voglio qui prima della fine della settimana. [Make sure that you make the move tomorrow. I want her here before the end of the week.]" He commands
I let out a deep sigh, my heart heavy with the weight of the decision I was about to make. Nodding in agreement, I looked at Papa and said, "Ok papà. [Okay Papa]" With a mix of determination and uncertainty, I walked out of the room, knowing that I had to find a way to make it work. Papa's opinion meant everything to me, and while he could be demanding, I trusted that he always had my best interests at heart.
