Evie, along with her little brother Lucas, were sent to Camp Night Hawk because their parents were too busy with work to spend time with them. Her parents were the type of parents who drove around a white Range Rover, owned a huge house, and slept in separate beds since they 'snored too loud'- Evie knew her parents fell out of love years ago, but they stayed together for the money they earned.Harper was unfortunately correct about Sadie Bloom waking up at the crack of dawn and setting up activities. She wore a polo shirt and shorts, with a 'Head Camper' badge pinned onto her shirt which she made sure to point out to everyone. It reminded Evie of her time at Camp Night Hawk last summer, where she wasn't allowed to do anything that Sadie didn't want her to do.
Melanie Carter stood in front of the gatherings of campers, who were all dressed and ready for their first day at Camp. There were around thirty kids, who belonged to the Six Cabins, who fell silent at Melanie's loud whistle. She held her clipboard tightly, accompanied by Sadie Bloom who stood beside her eagerly.
Melanie announced, "Good morning, Campers! Today's activities are, as usual, canoeing, volleyball, art, and capture the flag. The lake is closed today, so any Campers found in the perimeter will get one strike. This is everyone's warning that if you get three strikes, we will be calling home and you will miss out on further activities."
Melanie nodded to Sadie, motioning to the girl to step forward to say her notices. Sadie cleared her throat, "I'm Sadie Bloom, your Head Camper. The staff and I have discussed the schedule for the chores around Camp. Every day, a different Cabin will be chosen to do a different chore- such as, litter picking, cleaning the Arts Cabin, and cleaning the Outhouse stalls..."
A groan erupted from a few of the Campers, who had been to the Camp in previous years. Jenna frowned, turning to Evie in confusion, "What's the Outhouse?"
"It's just the restroom Cabin." Evie explained, "We get a week to clean the toilets. The faster we do it, the faster we can go back to the activities."
"It's the shit job, literally." Harper added, "We'll reek of piss for weeks."
"We're gonna have to do it at some point, Harper." Maddy reasoned, before smirking, "I heard that Cabin Six is close to the Outhouse."
Jenna asked curiously, "What's Cabin Six?"
"Maddy, are you serious?" Evie chuckled slightly, "How have you got a crush already?"
Maddy subtly motioned for Evie to look behind her, as the girl spotted one of the tallest boys in the crowd of Campers. He had brunette hair, which was blowing in the slight breeze, and was wearing a dark red t-shirt and shorts. He was whispering and laughing with his three friends that stood around him, making fun of someone in front of them, as they all ignored the Camp Assembly.
