KODI BALL HAD BEEN KEEPING HER DISTANCE FROM PHILLIP GALLAGHER...

Since the night with Malakai McGuire, she couldn't even look Lip in the eye. Every time she saw him with Karen draped over him like a cheap curtain, she told herself it didn't matter. If he could crack on with someone else, why couldn't she?

But the silence was killing him. At school, she'd blank him. At the estate, she'd vanish whenever he came round. She'd always been there - his mate, his safety - and now she was just... gone.

IN HER BEDROOM...

Wearing just an oversized tee, Kodi was dancing about to Superstar by Jamelia, hair everywhere, oblivious to anything outside her little bubble.

Kevin strolled past her door, did a double take, and leaned on the frame with a grin.

"Alright, Kylie bloody Minogue. Where's Veronica?"

Kodi laughed and twirled round, letting him catch her hand and spin her.

"Fiona's. Laundry run," she said.
