Lip leaned against the door, his eyes pained. 'Can you stay?' he asked.

Kodi paused, her heart aching. 'I can't do that,' she responded, her tone gentle.

Lip questioned Kodi, his voice laced with anguish. 'You're just going to walk away?'

'I'm married now,' Kodi reminded him.

'What if I asked you, would you have said yes?' Lip persisted.

Debbie smiled wryly. 'Lip, it's too late,' she replied.

'No, it's not,' Lip protested. 'I love you, Kodi. I love you. Please don't leave to be with him.'

Kodi looked at Lip, her eyes filled with a complex mix of emotions. 'He's my husband, and—'

'And you what, Kodi?' Lip demanded.

'I love him,' she whispered.

'And me, do you love me?' Lip asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

'I'll always love you,' Kodi admitted. 'But you were too late. I fell for someone else.'

Lip nodded, his tears refusing to be contained. 'Yeah, well, while you were with Malakai, guess what, princess? I've been fucking someone else.'

Kodi's hand trembled as she raised it and struck Lip across the face. 'Fuck you, Gallagher,' she seethed.

'And she's been great, actually,' Lip continued, his eyes steely.

Kodi slapped him again. 'I hate you, Phillip Gallagher. I hate you!' she cried.

Lip smirked, his eyebrows raised in challenge. 'No, you don't, Kodi. No, you don't,' he taunted before turning and walking away. 'Kodi, come back here!'

'Fuck!' Lip exclaimed, his voice laced with frustration and despair. Debbie wrapped her arms around her brother, offering silent comfort. 'It's Kodi, she'll eventually come back to you, Lip.'

'I hope so,' Lip replied, his voice heavy with longing. 'Because I really do love her, Deb's. I really do.'

Debbie sighed, understanding the depth of her brother's feelings. 'I know,' she said simply.
