Chapter 3: Agent X, My New Title and A Little History Lesson

(A/N): YOOOO guys, 420 views!

(Y/N): *narration* "Hello again, welcome back to the story. So last time I stepped out of the Vault for the first time in what feels like forever, found a hover truck, drove it to civilization, took notice of a massive power outage thanks to the news, saved someone from being squid-napped, and entered a manhole to the unknown. Hopefully with the help of this squid girl we can get to the bottom of this. Now then, lettuce continue the story."

(Y/N): "I have been swimming through this sewer pipe... for 30 minutes, when does it stop." *bonk* "Ouch, another sewer grate. Lemme see if I can-"

The grate opens up and I see that same female squid person now having green hair instead of orange lifting the lid up.

(Y/N): *thinking Wait, hol' up, they can change their hair color on a whim?! My only question is H O W ?*

I then pull myself out and close the sewer lid and see a small shack, a bulletin board in front of it, and an old ass squid man.

(Y/N): "Ummm, you good?"

(Old squid man): "Th-th-the... Oc-Oc-Oct... The Octarians are coming! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

(Y/N): *thinking what the fu- he's not loud but, he sure is vocal. Also the Octarians, is that some kind of band name or a part of one?"

(Old squid man): "Oh, uh, hi... Guess I lost my cool for a minute there. I'm Cap'n Cuttlefish, leader of the legendary Squidbeak Splatoon."

(Y/N): "Interesting, so you're a squad leader or something?"

(Cap'n Cuttlefish): "Yes, I am... That look in both of your eyes, it's the look I've been looking for!"

(Y/N): "Wait, what 'look' and do our eyes have to do with this?"

(Cap'n Cuttlefish): "It's more a figure of speech really. Enough of that, The Great Zapfish has been squidnapped! Nobody believes me, but it's the work of the Octarians! I just know it!"

(Y/N): "You keep saying that name like it's important, I think I'm missing some context here. Mind telling me what happened?"

(Cap'n Cuttlefish): *ignoring my question* "They want revenge for the Great Turf War from 100 years ago! I've been keeping an eye on them the whole time of course, but they stole The Great Zapfish right from under my nose. Please! You gotta help me rescue The Great Zapfish!"

(Y/N): "Uhhh, that's something to work with. *looks to female squid person* What is he talking about?"

(Female squid person): "Apparently, 100 years ago the Inklings and the Octarian forces were locked in a great turf war and both sides committed great atrocities. In the end the Inkings won the Great Turf War with the aid of their extra limbs, and forced the Octarians into exile underground."

(Y/N): "Huh, neeeeeat so I didn't want to assume anything but, you are an inkling right?"

(Female Inkling): "Yes, and you? I haven't seen your face."

(Y/N): "Oh, about that... it's complicated, I'd rather not take off my helmet right now. But, rest assured I am not working with the Octarians. I feel like that there's something more to this though."

(Female Inkling): "Like what?"

(Y/N): "Idk, it's like a gut feeling I have."

(Cap'n Cuttlefish): ... ... ... "So..."

(Y/N): "Oh, right an answer... yea sure man."

(Cap'n Cuttlefish): *looks to Female Inkling* "And I'll take your silence as a yes. Starting today, *points at Female Inkling* you are now Agent 3 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon. And for our masked friend here-"

(Y/N): "No need, you can call me X, Agent X." *thinking HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO SAY THAT!*

(Cap'n Cuttlefish): "O... kay then... Agent 3, Agent X time for me to give you your very own hero suits. It'll help you fight the Octarians."

I see that Agent 3s hero suit is a set pair of ear pieces that looked like a headset, a bright yellow safety vest, a pair of black shoes with like green accents, some kind of tank with blue lines on the back (my guess is capacity of holding something) and she's now holding some kind of paint gun.

As for my hero suit, it didn't really change my clothes to that extreme. I did have the same headset piece and tank with blue lines though. What was different was my jacket turned from a brown-ish color to the same bright yellow jacket but with dark blue streaks forming in a diagonal pattern from the right shoulder to the left and an added shoulder pad on my left shoulder while also wielding the same paint gun as Agent 3.

(Cap'n Cuttlefish): "What a great fit! (For a hand-me-down from Agents 1 and 2...) Now let's go get those Octojerks! I'm counting on you buckos!"

(Y/N): *looking at both hero suits* "Huh, I think I can work with this."

(Agent 3): "Right, let's go."

(A/N): ~848 words before this line. Also, sorry if this chapter is a bit short, but I need some exposition here.
