The calendar had flipped to Monday, signaling the end of our laid-back weekend and the start of the usual work hustle for my parents. While Amelie and I were still riding the chill waves of Easter break, our parents had no such luck. Our day was a mixed bag of digital adventures – we were busting moves in Just Dance, tending to our virtual island in Animal Crossing, and hitting max speeds in F1 23. But let's be real, even the best games lose their shine after you've been at it for hours.

Eventually, boredom crept in, and we decided to shake things up with a stroll through our neighborhood. Who would've thought that every street would look like a carbon copy of the next? We were lost before we knew it.

Trying to navigate back with GPS was a bust. "Why don't we hit up Kimi?" Amelie tossed the idea out as she fiddled with my phone. I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "Yeah, right. Like I'm gonna call him up and say, 'Yo, Kimi, it's Ava. Amelie and I are kinda lost, and GPS is a no-go. Can you bail us out?' That's just... nope, not happening," I said, flailing my arms for emphasis.

"Too late, I already sent him a voice note," Amelie dropped the bombshell as nonchalant as ever. "You did what?!" My voice hit a pitch I didn't know I had. "Are you deaf? I said—" "I heard you the first time! But why, Amelie?" I cut her off, my voice a mix of disbelief and annoyance.

She shrugged, all cool and collected. "Well, it's either Kimi or the cops to escort us home. Kimi seemed like the less embarrassing rescue squad," she explained, as if it was the most obvious choice in the world.

I was about to launch into a full-blown rant when she flashed a cheeky grin and started tapping away on my phone. "Chill, he'll be here in five," she said, way too pleased with herself.

I was fuming. "I can't believe you. Get over here!" I yelled, lunging for her. But she was quick, darting away with a laugh. I chased her down the street, threats spilling out as I went. Just as I was closing in, she spotted Kimi and played her last card. "Kimi! Save me! She's lost it!" she shrieked, racing towards him to use him as a shield.

I skidded to a halt, panting like I'd just run a marathon. "What's the deal?" Kimi asked, clueless about the chaos.

I filled him in on our day's misadventures, and he couldn't help but crack up. "Why am I not surprised this is an 'Ava thing'?" he managed between laughs.

"Life's never dull with Ava around, but it's a hazard zone for sure! She almost took me out!" Amelie chimed in, dramatizing the whole ordeal.

"Hey, I did not try to off you," I protested, but she just smirked and played back the video of me in full chase mode, declaring my 'deadly' intentions.

"Busted," I admitted, throwing my hands up in mock surrender. We all burst into laughter, the tension melting away.

"So, where's your place?" Kimi finally asked.

I gave him our address, and he mentioned he lived just a couple of streets over. The walk back was a breeze, making me wonder how we'd managed to get lost in the first place.

"We're here," Kimi announced as we reached our house, just as my parents were getting out of the car. "Come on in," my mom invited, spotting us from the driveway.

Amelie and I started towards the door, but I noticed Kimi hesitating. "She meant you too," I said, nudging him forward. He gave me a look and then followed us inside.
