Flesh and Blood

"I drove two hours out and you changed the movie?" Zoe asks, getting mad at the drive in movie worker.

"ma'am, it was a last minute change-" The worker starts to say.

"last minute enough that when I checked your website two hours ago it still said Jurassic Park?" Zoe raises an eyebrow.

"we got a lot of requests-" The worker is interrupted again.

"for Frozen? Seriously? It's a Disney movie, for christ's sake" Zoe scoffs.

"Zoe" Elle murmurs, reaching across to hold Zoe's hand from the passenger seat. "I'm kind of interested"

"in Frozen?" Zoe asks, turning to look at Elle.

"yeah" Elle nods.

Zoe sighs.

"Jurassic Park is a classic" Zoe mutters under her breath as she hands the worker cash for two tickets.

[Ten Minutes Later]

"okay, this should be good" Elle smiles, as she sets up the bed of Zoe's truck with pillows and blankets for the movie.

"you're forgetting something, babe" Zoe comments.

"forgetting what?" Elle frowns, looking over the little nest she's made, not sure what she's forgotten.

Zoe smirks and holds up Checkers.

"you brought him?" Elle giggles, taking Checkers and placing him right in the middle.

"wouldn't be a drive in movie without him, now let's go get some food" Zoe decides, helping Elle out of the truck bed.

"m'kay" Elle smiles, holding Zoe's hand as Zoe leads her to the building in the back of the drive in movie where concessions are sold.

"what's a Slurpee?" Elle asks, looking at some of the menu options.

"it's like, semi melted flavored ice" Zoe frowns as she explains it.

"what?" Elle furrows her eyebrows.

"no, it's like a chunky smoothie" Zoe decides.

"can I have one?" Elle requests.

"of course, which one do you want?" Zoe asks.

"maybe... Cherry?" Elle asks, looking at the menu.

"got it" Zoe smiles.

[Two Hours Later]

"oh my god" Elle gasps as Zoe drives her home.

"yeah" Zoe snickers.

"he just-... he was going to marry her, they sang a whole song" Elle exclaims. "and then he's the bad guy?"

"I know, it's... crazy" Zoe says, shaking her head and trying not to laugh.

"I don't understand, he saved Elsa from the guard, but then he tries to kill her?" Elle gapes. "and Anna freezes over?"

"it's a lot" Zoe nods, trying not to grin.

"and Olaf, he was gonna melt, but now he knows what summer feels like" Elle gushes.

"so you liked it?" Zoe guesses.

"I like American movies" Elle nods. 

"wait till I show you Tangled" Zoe smirks, glancing at Elle. "god, you're so Rapunzel."

"who's Rapunzel?" Elle asks, curiously.

[Eight Hours Later]

"All right. Look alive, look alive. Officer Nolan, you ready?" Grey asks Nolan as he enters roll call.
