Raeis' POV

Remy and I are on a hiking date.  We're walking the trail by the school, hand in hand.  She looks so pretty as the sunlight hits her face, seeming to make her blue eyes shine more than they already do.

"How's it going with your classes, Babe?"  I inquire.  She sighs.  "Everything's going well except for one.  I'm struggling, and the professor's an asshole.  He refuses to help me, even though I've seeked his help so many times."

"I'm sorry, Baby.  Is there anything you can do?"  "Not much.  I'm just gonna try to find someone in my class that knows what the hell they're doing and see if they can help me.  If they wanna help me for free, great, but if not, I'll just pay them.  Money's no issue for me."

Remy's parents are wealthy, and she has a job as an RA.  "How are classes going for you, Baby Girl?  How is it being a freshman?"  "Classes are actually going really great.  Being a freshman is alright.  Sometimes things are a bit harder than I expected, but I still prevail.  I like the club that I'm in."

"LGBT All Tea, right?"  "Yep.  We learn a lot about LGBT+ people, do fun activities, and go on field trips.  You should join, Babe.  It would be so fun to be in it together.  Any assignments where we can have a partner, we could do them together.  Our meetings are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays."

"Between being a cheerleader, president of a sorority, and RA, I don't know if I'd have enough time for it, but we'll see.  Baby Girl, I have something to ask you, though.  I've been thinking about it for awhile now........  Do you wanna meet my parents?"  She says, looking at me with hopeful eyes.

I look back at her, a smile on my face.  "Really?  You mean it?"  "Of course, Baby Girl.  I feel way more strongly about you than I did Jake, and they've met him.  I definitely wanna introduce you to them.  They know about you."

"Of course I'll meet your parents!,"  I say with excitement.  The excitement keeps coursing through me, until I have a certain thought.  "Do they know that you were seeing me while you were with Jake?"  I say, my smile nowhere in sight.

She looks ahead again.  "No.  I didn't think that was important to tell them.  It doesn't matter how we got together.  The important part is that we're together.  Plus, if they knew that, they'd never like you.  I wanted you to have a chance,"  She looks at me.  "Does it bother you that they don't know?"

"No, not really.  I was just curious."  She smiles.  "Good."  She kisses my cheek.

.....

It's been some time since Remy asked me to meet her parents, and today is the anticipated day.  We're sitting across from them at their really big dining table.  Pot roast with potatoes, rolls, and salad are on our plates.

"So Raeis, what do you like about our daughter?"  Mr. Patterson says.  "I love that she's loving and caring,"  I say, my smile on full display.  I hold Remy's hand in mine, both of us smiling at each other.  I look back at him.  "She's a strong woman, so passionate and driven.  She does so many different things.  She's hardworking.  She's responsible.  She treats me like a queen.  Her feelings for me are real.  I know she'd do anything for me.  Her being absolutely gorgeous is only a plus."

He smiles.  "Good answer.  We've definitely raised our daughter to be a go getter.  And you've known each other since this school year, correct?"

"Yes, sir."  "Remy was with Jake since senior year of high school.  I'm not sure I'm convinced your relationship with her is as serious."  He says, looking from her to me, contorting his mouth.

"I liked Jake.  He was such a nice boy."  Mrs. Patterson chimes in.  Remy rolls her eyes.  "Mom, Dad, Raeis is my girlfriend now.  We've been over this so many times.  Our relationship is completely serious, just as serious as the one I had with Jake, if not more."

"Why did you break up with Jake?  You never told us."  Mr. Patterson questions his daughter, looking at her.  She looks back.  "I didn't have feelings for him anymore the way I used to.  It just wasn't the same."

"Jake was the ideal boy, though.  I still think he is.  And you could tell he really loved you."  Mrs. Patterson says.  All this talk about Jake is starting to make me really uncomfortable.

I shift in my seat, looking down.  Remy notices my discomfort, looking at me, and rubs my hand with her thumb.  She looks back at them.

"Remy, you know we love you, and we don't think anything negative of your sexuality, we don't care about that.  We just don't understand why you would just so easily throw away a relationship with someone you were with for 3 years.  And you're a freshman, right?"  Mr. Patterson says, looking at me now.

"Yes, sir."  I reply.  "Remy's a junior.  What are you gonna do once she's not there anymore?  Jake was in the same grade." He says.

Huh.......  I never thought about that before.

Remy immediately stands up.  "We're leaving.  Until you guys can truly accept our relationship, please don't talk to me."

I look at all of our plates.  The food is half-eaten.  Man, I really wanted to finish my food.  I stand up with her and we leave.
