Almost a week into the senior year and everyone was already exhausted. Windsor Valley's current state of affairs was not good; the student council from the previous year had already graduated, and the seats for the upcoming student councils remained unfilled.

It was difficult for the vice principal and head of the section because there was no student council and the teachers had to prepare the events on top of their already demanding workloads from organizing registration and exams.

Voting was scheduled to begin after the mid-festive break, but it was still two weeks away despite the names of the students nominated for each position being made public.

At the moment, it was almost obvious who would hold which position because there were only two that needed to be decided by voting: the deputy of the student council (which included both boys and girls) and the head of the council for both genders.

Now that the lessons were in session, Aliara and Uma were playing around in physics class while Guliana was asleep and Belle was attempting to follow along with the teacher, Mrs. Emma, as she explained everything.

Since most of the students couldn't do anything about Mrs. Emma's unhelpful teaching, they essentially treated her class as a rest period. They were silent and let her do as she pleased, but it wasn't like they paid attention to her.

The entire class let out a huge sigh of relief as soon as the bell rang, signaling the end of class. Mrs. Emma left quickly as usual. Since it was a break, the majority of them had already departed to get some fresh air, thus the classroom was largely empty.

After finishing their paper game match, Uma and Aliara were cleaning up their mess when someone said, "Hey Aliara, I wanted to talk to you about something." It was none other than Santiago who spoke.

"Yes, sure what is it?" Aliara inquired, and he quickly took an empty seat "You have also given your name to the head of the council?" Aliara nodded in answer. With a trace of uncertainty in his voice, he asked her, "So do you know who is going for it from the boy's side?" hearing this Uma squinted as she continued munching on her plain bread.

"I heard that Ivan guy is going for it and you are too," she said, but he stopped her off at that point. "Yes, yes, me, I am going for it! And you must be on my side!" He seemed so happy that Guliana was startled awake.

Although Aliara thought it was strange, it was typical for candidates running for council positions to form alliances. Even so, Aliara had no desire to collaborate with anyone. Sure, there would have been plenty of advantages, but she was not interested in working with a guy.

Speaking of "guys," boys and girls were chosen for the student council head position in separate ways. The male representatives were selected by internal manipulation by the teachers, whereas the female representatives were chosen by simple majority voting.

Even though they were also eligible to vote, their teacher's preferences determined the outcome in the end. This had always been the case, thus there was a good probability that teachers would select the student council president for the boys based on his popularity among them rather than the vote of the majority.

Aliara was hesitant to work with him for several reasons, including the possibility of major issues if he lost the election. As a result, she decided to face him and stated, "I know you are very passionate about it and—" He cut her off once more.

"YES, I AM, and I understand that the different system is making you hesitant, but we can still support one another in private rather than publicly." When he was trying to persuade Aliara, Guliana spoke out.

"You shouldn't collaborate with her or anybody else; just be yourself; if the job is meant for you, you'll get it. Besides, I don't think Ivan is a strong rival; the boys do seem to like you better." He pouted when he heard this because he had no choice but to back off, but then he heard Aliara,

"All right, let's do this. I'll help you, but I won't bring that up in public so it won't seem like we're teaming up, okay?" Aliara said, bringing a smile to his face "Okay, we are not joining hands, but once I get the post, I will help you too and I hope you will do the same," he said and then got up, "Okay, then I will leave for my break, I will message you," he said as he cheerfully turned to leave, while Uma simply shrugged.

Putting down her sandwich, Uma remarked, "He is so excited that he looks like a kid who is high on sugar. But be careful, we are going to start the campaigning this week for you, so be at your best."

Belle faked a clap and added, "Wow, you sound like a president's personal manager." "And you understand how a president's PA operates?" Guliana questioned, her eyelids drowsy,

They nodded in agreement as Belle said, "No, but have some ideas because my mom has been the mayor here for the past two years." Guliana raised her hands in response. She screamed, "Oh such a show-off," and that's when Belle hit her hard.

Aliara and Uma left the classroom for a little stroll after witnessing the eldest constant bickering. Uma murmured, "I feel bad for Santiago," which caused Aliara to cast a doubtful glance at her.

"Mariana informed me that Ivan's numerous talents make him the preferred choice among the teachers," When Uma gave her explanation, Aliara nodded in comprehension.

"However, I am confident Santiago will secure another role, as he was also acknowledged by the seniors," she continued, pausing as they both ascended the seating area in front of the enormous green football pitch.

"Were you also informed about this through the newspaper?" Uma nodded right away when Aliara asked. "You two are for real iconic," Aliara said, laughing.

"Anyway, I hope the campaigning and voting go smoothly. Let's hand out little badges. The one I already showed you," she remarked, and Uma nodded.

"Yes, we are giving those out. Belle asked her dad about it already, and the badges will be available soon. All we need to do now is make sure you win." Uma said, "Mariana is also ready to make you a sensation," and Aliara grabbed her in an attempt to calm her down.

"Remember, sweetie, that I have my first interview for this position coming up, and my competitor seems pretty fierce—you know, she was the deputy head girl last year," Uma smirked as Aliara reminded her.

Aliara felt a little comforted when Uma held up her guard and said, "She was the deputy because you didn't stand for the position last year, otherwise you would have surely won, you know most of the juniors know you from the debates you have attended."
After a while the two walked back to the classroom.
