The following day, when Aliara got home, her immediate family gave her another little celebration, which she didn't enjoy but couldn't avoid. Even though she looked put together in her purple cardigan and high-waisted jeans, she did not enjoy walking down the corridor without Uma, who was still on route to her home. As her mother entered the room asking her to greet the visitor, Aliara thought to herself, "That woman is always late."

Being a well-known businessman in the community, Aliara's father was always required to make a great deal out of everything about him and whatever his daughter accomplished. Aliara had repeatedly encouraged him to keep his activities to a minimum, but he had always responded that he only had one child and that his family's reputation meant a huge deal to him.

This was the reason why her dad had made everyone aware of the position she held at her school even before the investiture event took place.

As she was walking down the hall, she heard the doorbell ring. She went to answer it right away, expecting to see her best friend, but instead, she saw Santiago. Despite this, she gave him a big smile and gestured for him to come in, which he did-but not before giving her a small gift bag.

"Congratulations, Aliara, and thanks for inviting me." He smiled, but there was still a trace of sadness in his voice. Before Aliara could say anything, she was embraced tightly by Uma, whom she instantly recognized.

Uma yelled, "Congrats, smarty-ass," smacking her back once before yanking away and hastily putting her arm around Saint's shoulder.

As she handed him a large chocolate bar, "Congrats to you too, our Deputy Head-Boy. Trust me, they will listen to you more than to Ivan," Uma said whispering the last part making the brown-haired man laugh. "Is this it for me?" he inquired, gesturing to the attractive bag Uma gave Aliara.

Uma chuckled then pulled out a takeaway order, saying, "Here, I order the tacos from your favorite place." Saint grabbed them swiftly and went into the hallway to play about with Zara, looking genuinely amazed and delighted.

"As the head girl, what goals do you have for this year?" Belle inquired as she snuggled up next to Guliana, who was lying on the bed with Uma propped up on her legs, and looked down at Aliara, who had moved to the bean bag following her third call to go meet the "relatives."

"Ah, how can I forget that I was under peer pressure? I am already regretting my choice." Guliana laughed at Aliara's response and further stated "Trust me, Uma, she is never leaving you for what you have done," Uma stood up upon hearing this, sticking out her middle finger at Aliara, and then lay back down on Guliana's legs.

After rolling her eyes, the oldest smiled at her response.
"I would say I'm glad being a head girl and all but what I don't like is Ivan-I mean that head boy," Aliara added, causing the other three to sit up straight on the bed. "Why? "What happened?" Belle enquired.

"Indeed, did something occur? I don't think he's all that horrible; Mariana says he's kind of popular with the boys in their senior year." Uma turned everyone to face her, and Belle instantly asked, "He is popular?!" which made Aliara's eyes bulge with curiosity.
"I had assumed Santiago was far more well-known?" she asked.

Uma pulled out her phone, accessed her chat with Mariana, and clicked on the screenshots of the conversations between Maria and her informant.

Maria:
Explain that to me.

My source:
I can guarantee, that he is well-liked and will succeed due to his academic prowess as well as his occasional participation in most sports. Heck, yesterday I saw this guy at the swim club.

Maria:
Are you certain he is going to win then?

My source:
He most certainly is. Let me share a little secret with you:
he is close friends with the popular head boy of HMC School, and since they are both great friends and have a good reputation with our school's teachers, they could take that in consideration while promoting him as the head boy.
Behind the mask, this person does several different things.
Just like his name suggests, he is our school's very own MAFIA. Haha.

As she read the chats, Alaira glared at them and asked, "Does it matter? He continued to do little for his campaign! And still spoke with that attitude," she spat. The three cried, startled, "YOu TaLkeD To HiM?!" This made Aliara realize she still hadn't told them about the incident, so she did.

"So you are saying, that you are already on his bad side and you also know that in the coming future, you both need to work things out for the school?" Guliana asked, rubbing her temples after learning about the "incident."

When Guliana asked, Aliara nodded in answer, only to receive a swift smack on the head from Maraian, who had joined them midway through Aliara's Storytime.

"There is now nothing else you can do to set things right, apologize, or get along." Mariana stated, "You two are going to stand together and have a meeting soon after the investiture ceremony which is, by the way, on May 7th," before she leaped onto the bed beside Uma and briefly explained the upcoming event.

With a hint of hesitation, Aliara surged up, "I don't need to get along or anything, let it be," to which the others shrugged.

May 7th, Investiture ceremony,

The last week went very quickly, and there was a lot of commotion. Aliara and the other elected members, including Ivan, had to stay back three times before the ceremony. This was done so that when they stood side by side, they would appear "polished" and "well-groomed".

For all this time, Aliara found it difficult to accept that Ivan was, in fact, well-behaved-or that it was just another mask he wore constantly. Every time they had to walk together or when he had stood aside to show her respect by letting her deliver the speech first, her thoughts raced.

Overall though, she never truly trusted him, and today was the day they could finally stop the three days of nonstop training. Additionally, as Aliara mentioned, it will be a joyful occasion since she won't have to see the devil's face all the time.

She shrugged off all the thoughts, looking in the mirror, trying to display a soft smile.

Gazing at Aliara, Zara clapped her hands and remarked, "Damn you look good with that sashe on." She was referring to the sashe Aliara was wearing, which said "The Head-Girl," and the one Zara wore said "The Deputy Head-Girl."

As Zara noticed Aliara staring out into space, she exclaimed, "Aha, let's go, the ceremony is about to start," and Aliara followed her out.
