Every evening, she found herself alone on the terrace, gazing out at the garden, a routine she faithfully maintained. Her sternum, now a prominent feature, seemed to draw attention, a physical manifestation of her inner turmoil. She had been dubbed the Frowning Spinster by some, No, she was simply known as the twice-divorced woman. As every evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the garden, she retreated to the terrace, seeking solace in solitude. The rhythmic chirping of crickets and the gentle rustle of leaves provided a comforting backdrop to her contemplation. Her gaze lingered on the verdant landscape below, where flowers bloomed in a riot of colours, unaware of the turmoil within her. The terrace, her sanctuary, offered a brief respite from the chaos of the world inside.
Suna couldn't escape the nagging voice in her head—the voice that branded her as a sulking, sarcastic loser, destined to destroy herself with every decision she made.
And so, as the evening wore on and the shadows deepened, Suna found herself locked in a silent battle with her own demons, seeking refuge in the twilight embrace of the garden sanctuary.
Her gaze fell upon the elderly couple strolling through the grounds, sharing laughter and stories that seemed to bind them together. Halis Agah and Hattuç Aunt, the epitome of enduring love, finally tied the knot and embarked on a life of bliss. Yet, with each glance, she felt a surge of contempt course through her veins.
Hattus's Aunt, the very woman who had shattered her life and that of her younger sister, while their mother turned a blind eye to their suffering. Her nephew, their father, subjected them to relentless abuse-physical, emotional, and psychological. He hit them, starved them, humiliated them, and forced them into unwanted marriages. And now, as she watched the supposed happiness of Hattuç Aunt's newfound marital bliss, she couldn't help but seethe with resentment, feeling the sting of betrayal all over again.
As she observed Halis Agah and Hattuç Aunt's joyous union, memories of her painful past flooded back with a vengeance. The laughter that echoed across the grounds seemed to mock her, a cruel reminder of the happiness that had been denied to her and her sister.
