Nap Time

Exiting Monty Golf, on the second floor, the view down on the Atrium, Jason inside Bonnie's chest, checked his Faz Watch, 2:54. Basically three more hours. Jason thought.

Sean yelled out and waved his hands rapidly, he bolted for escalators and ran down them, Bonnie and Ben raced after him, Jason peeking his head out of Bonnie. On the first floor, he heard cheering and slight whoops from his friends, Jason climbed out of Bonnie's chest cavity and walked over to them. It was Brian, Kate, and Charlie. Brian held out his hand, Jason took it and they did their signature hand shake.

Bonnie walked over to them, each of his footsteps clanked against the tile floor. The cheering sort of stopped and the three of them just stared at Bonnie. Jason could now see the full extent of the damage. His left shoulder pad was chipped, cracked and formed in various places, and one of his eye casings had been removed. The casing on a few of his fingers had been sheared off and the endoskeleton underneath could be visible. It wasn't as much damage as he had expected.

"Jason," Kate started, "you mind explaining why he's here?"

"Oh, yeah! I'm glad I won't have to explain this again, but anyways," Jason took a deep breath, "The animatronics are trying to hunt us and we don't know why, but Bonnie isn't, and neither we, nor he knows how. All we know is that he's on our side."

"Look dudes, at first I didn't believe Jason about Roxanne, but after what happened in Monty Golf, I definitely think something is wrong with them. Someone has to be controlling them. I've known them for a long time, on their own, they would never hurt anyone." Bonnie said, looking at the crowd of kids.

Ben started to say "You've helped us, I'd say we should return the favour."

"Yeah" Kate agreed, "It would make-"

The lights began to flicker.

OFF. ON. OFF. ON…then complete darkness.

The lights went out.

The only form of light came from Bonnie's eyes and the screens on a few of his friends' Faz Watches. Jason's eyes were still adjusting to the darkness when he heard a quiet, yet loud sound from the ceiling. It sounded like creaking metal and stiff joints, like old door hinges that hadn't been oiled in a long time.

Sean must have heard it too because Jason saw him raise his golf club. "What is that sound?"

A distant chuckle reverberated through the Atrium. But it wasn't like a chuckle you would hear when you found something funny, it was more like what someone would do to you uneasy.

Jason definitely felt uneasy.

"Naughty…naughty…naughty…" a raspy but high voice said in the darkness.

"Oh no." Bonnie said his voice shook a little, "I should have known. Everyone, back to back, right now!"

The seven of them leaned on each other's backs. Jason bumped into Bonnie.

"It's the daycare attendant. Usually he is confined to the daycare but it seems like that with the lights out, his other programming kicks in and he is free to roam the building."

"And I bet he's just like the others." Sean said somewhere behind Jason.

We gotta get the power back on. Jason thought

Charlie broke off from the circle and started running in a random direction. Bonnie reached out to grab her but missed, "Wait Charli, no!"

Something in Jason told him to look up, he raised his gaze up to the ceiling and saw a silhouette of an animatronic, its red eyes peering right back at him. It chuckled and Jason saw its body bounce up and down. His eyes could make out its face in a perpetual smile and it raised a spindly finger to its mouth, almost telling him to keep quiet. It then switched its gaze to Charlie and disappeared.

Bonnie sprang forward, sprinting for Charlie. Jason and his friends were frozen in fear. The Moon animatronic lowered quickly, attached to a cable then snatched Charlie and the cable retracted quickly. Bonnie jumped up and grabbed Charlie's foot. Charlie's scream was muffled by Moon's hand on her throat and covering her mouth. Moon grunted as he tried to pull but Bonnie was seemingly too heavy to be lifted.

Jason could see Bonnie struggling to hold his grip. Then Moon grunted once more and yanked upwards.

This time Bonnie yanked back.

Charlie's shoe slipped off her foot and Moon and Charlie flew to the ceiling and disappeared. Bonnie hit the floor with a thud. Moon's voice echoed through the Atrium along with distant struggling. "Hrrgh, take your nap! Go to sleep!"

Then the sounds stopped. "Nighty night…" Moon said his creaking joints faded as he moved away.

Bonnie grunted as he stood up, Charlie's shoe in hand. Jason was about to say something when Bonnie collapsed. He held his abdomen as he started to twitch.

"Bonnie! What's wrong? Are you okay?" Jason asked

"I missed the hourly recharge-arge. I n-need to get to-to P-Parts and Serv-ervices. They can hel-help me-e."

"Wait!" Brian said, "What if we did an alternative? The go karts in Roxy Raceway should have a decent amount of voltage in them, right?"

"Y-yes, I think so-o-o."

"Then if we hook you up to one, it should provide enough charge to essentially jumpstart your systems."

Bonnie sighed "It's a long-ong sh-shot but it might-t just work-rk."

Jason spoke "I'll go to Roxy Raceway and grab the battery, the rest of you get the power back on."

"Good luck-uck S-superstar-ar, entering rest mode-o-ode."

Kate stepped in "Woah, wait. You're going alone?"

"Yeah, I'm the fastest, it'll take me no time. Plus, I could also act as a decoy to distract at least one animatronic." Jason countered

Ben started to protest but Jason hushed him, "You guys hear that?" Jason asked, pointing to the darkness. Everyone looked in that direction.

Sean turned back "I don't hear any- oh you have got to be kidding me."

Jason was already on the second floor, and far away from the rest of them. His friends started to call out after him but then stopped. He was already gone.

Author's Note:

Death number two for the story. A little creepy, but that's what makes it exciting. I really liked the idea of Moon being this stalker and ambush predator, waiting for the right moment to strike. I might do more with Moon in later parts. Also Jason seems to be taking a huge burden for himself. I wonder if Jason will make it back in one piece.
