"..I'm surprised that you managed to smoke that bag of bones out of the house so quick." I say and take another pancake. They taste good, and the chocolate syrup makes it even better.

"I told you." He shrugged and leaned against the counter, closing his eyes and smiling, though I can tell it's forced.

"What's wrong?" I tilt my head and look at him.

[Y/n] flinched slightly and then laughed briefly, "Wh-.."

Likely the human decided to excuse himself, but I gave him a self-explanatory stare. Even if I can't assume what his thoughts are, his emotions are easy to read.

Some of them, at least.

"..Is it that noticeable?" He uttered.

"I'm waiting." I slid the plate off to the side, propping my chin up on my hand.

"Just.. ehh, I guess it's the side effects of being teleported back and forth a few times. My head hurts, that's it." His fingers tapped onto his chin, a thoughtful expression crossing his face.

"Is it?" My eyes scanned his face once more and the suspicion he wasn't telling the whole story grew.

"Some stuff's happening in the town." [Y/n]'s face still had that thoughtful expression, and I caught a glimpse of an orange flash in his eyes, "More and more monsters are missing, I guess it's over 20 now? I didn't pay too much attention to the exact number.. And, well, there are anomalies."

"What sort of-"

"I can't explain it properly, and trying to do it anyhow else will make me look like a dumbass."

"You are a dumbass." I replied back, smiling.

His gaze travelled up from the floor and to my face.. He narrowed his brows, frowning and rolling his eyes, "Back to the topic. I just can't wrap my head around it, and it bothers me.."

"..Something's bad taking place and I can't prevent it."

"It's impossible to prevent everything bad from happening." Words slip through my lips in an attempt to not make him enter the 'it's all my fault' mode.

"Though it's worth a shot." He retorts.

"You're talking like Frisk."

"Perhaps." A shrug follows and he takes a step off from the wall, looking back at me, "Anything specific you wanna do today?"

"Hm.." I tap my fingers on my chin, thinking.

"..Nope. I doubt it'd be rational, you told the skeleton you're staying at home."

His eyes widened slightly, "You overheard?"

"I'm always wary of possible threats." I retorted back with a shrug.

"He wasn't a threat?"

"Anyways, we probably should change your bandages." I change the topic, shifting slightly on the chair and then sliding off.

"You're avoiding the question." [Y/n] frowned.

"Do not lecture me."

"I'm.. not trying to?" He raised his eyebrow once more, feeling slightly confused.. and frustrated?

That orange flash.

I noticed it again..

..And it sends shivers down my spine.

A person so naive and friendly, but at the same time bearing a trait like that, aiming to prevent violence yet driven by a desire to make sure bad people get a fair and well-deserved payback.. Me included.
