It was another boring day in class. You slumped over your desk, chin resting on your arms, completely disinterested in whatever nonsense your math teacher was droning on about. Math was already your least favorite subject, but on an empty stomach? It was pure torture. You regretted skipping breakfast, and your growling stomach was a reminder of that mistake.

Feet tapped impatiently against the floor, a shared irritation rippling through the room full of high schoolers waiting for freedom. Your mind drifted to the only comforting thought—this was your last year stuck in this hellhole. Summer couldn't come fast enough.

With a sigh, you checked your watch—a pink Barbie one gifted to you by your little sister.

11:22.

Almost there. Less than an hour to go.

Muttering a few curses under your breath about your insufferable teacher, you grabbed a pen from the top of your red notebook. (Math is red, try me.) Doodling became your escape, and soon, tiny stars decorated your ring finger, their different shapes oddly satisfying.

Just as you were finishing, your phone buzzed with a text from your mom—she wouldn't be home until tomorrow and you had to pick up your sister. You barely had time to put your phone away before the teacher's grating voice called your name.

"That's it. Give me your phone," the short old man barked, hand outstretched.

You scoffed, not even looking up. "No. Class is almost over, and I was texting my mom. And it's my phone."

"Did you pay for it?" he sneered.

You blinked. "What? That's none of your business."

"It's my classroom," he retorted.

"Did you pay for it?" you shot back just as the bell rang.

Laughter erupted from the other side of the room—none other than your friend, Yuji, entertained as always. He grabbed his bag, slinging it over his shoulder before catching up to you.

"Mmm, you're gonna get suspended one day," he teased, effortlessly plucking your bag from your grasp like the gentleman he was.

You rolled your eyes, reaching for it. "I know. Not like I care, though."

Yuji grinned, easily holding your bag out of reach when you tried to snatch it.

"Ugh, whatever. Lunch is on me, Pinky," you huffed, walking backwards with a playful smirk.

His smile widened, but before he could respond, his gaze flickered down to your hand. Noticing the stars you had drawn, he suddenly grabbed your fingers, bringing them closer to his face.

Your brain short-circuited.

"Hmm," he hummed, examining your little doodles. "You should do mine at lunch, so we match!"

Your face heated up, caught off guard by how casually he held your hand. As if realizing, Yuji quickly let go, rubbing the back of his neck. "Sorry, that was kinda—"

"It's fine," you interrupted, brushing it off. The two of you headed toward the cafeteria, finding your usual table with your friends already sitting there.

Once seated across from each other, Yuji pulled a pen from his pocket and slid it over to you, eyes glinting with anticipation. Your friends exchanged glances, confusion clear on their faces, but you simply chuckled. Without a word, you took his hand, uncapped the pen with your teeth, and started doodling little stars on his ring finger.

Yuji's face practically lit up, his stupidly happy grin never fading. You didn't even notice when he sneakily snapped a picture on his phone.

For a moment, it felt like it was just the two of you, completely lost in your own little world—ignoring the teasing snickers from your friends. When you finished, you could feel his excitement before even looking up.

"I love it," he said, ruffling your hair. You smacked his hand away, a soft blush dusting your cheeks, though you'd never admit it.

"Good. You've now been blessed by my artistic genius. Be grateful." you said sarcastically.

"Yes, ma'am." He held his hand out in front of him like he had just been gifted the world's most expensive ring.

You rolled your eyes, returning to your food—not even caring when he stole a few bites while you weren't looking.
