"It's really not that hard." Suguru chuckled as you furrowed your brows, struggling to comprehend the math problem he gave you. You've been at it for about fifteen minutes now, and you're basically where you started.
You'd asked him to tutor you, due to the fact that you were failing in math. It was humiliating to ask Suguru of all people, but he exceled at math, where you struggled. But you had very limited options.
There was Shoko, who would of been smoking the entire time while the two of you gossiped instead of doing the work.
Gojo, who would of patronized you for everything you got wrong, stating that 'It really isn't that hard if you actually try.'
Then the first year Kento, who would of simply said no and ignored you if you asked again.
Suguru was really your only option.
"Have you even been listening to what I've been saying?" He asked, tilting his head. "Of course," you lied. It was hard to listen when he was practically speaking a different language. Too hard. Math was way too hard.
When were you even going to use this as a Jujutsu sorcerer? When were you going to use this if you weren't? What time was it? Was it supposed to rain today, or was it just cloudy? Why are Suguru's lips moving. Why is he so attractive—
"—[Name]? Are you listening to anything I'm saying?" He was annoyed now, tone flat. Shit.
"Yeah, I just," you tried to find an excuse, but there wasn't really any good options jumping out at you. "No, no I wasn't." You frowned, propping your elbow on the desk and resting your chin in your palm, avoiding his gauze.
Suguru sighed, leaning back in his chair. He didn't say anything, he just looked at you. He was probably thinking, you thought, glancing at everything around your room as if you've never been there and wanted to keep it in your memory.
"Alright." He sighed.
"Alright?" You asked, rseluctantly turning your head to face him.
"For every two questions you get right," he started, attempting to catch your interest. "I'll buy you one book."
Your weakness. Books. You stayed up till four am cleaning because you refused to get a new one until your disgusting closet was cleaned up.
"You're serious?" Your eyes lit up, focus finally retrieved. Suguru smiled, glad to have your attention back. But damn, that look was going to kill him. "Dead serious." He replied, eyes softening as your smile grew.
"Well then, what are we waiting for? Please, get to explaining!" He blinked. Once. Twice. Then chuckled. The deep, soothing sound sent a shiver down your spine. "That's all it took?"
"Yeah! I'm a very simple woman." You shrugged, reaching over to grab your pencil that had rolled off the desk. "Since when," He mumbled under his breath. You heard it, but you weren't going to risk loosing the books all because you wanted to smack him in the arm.
In the next hour, Suguru had explained what you were struggling with in a way that made it easy for you to understand. By answering a total of ten answers, you were getting five books. Five. Whole. Books. And you didn't even have to pay for them!
"Next week I'll take you to the book store. But for now," he tossed his bag over his shoulders as he headed to the door. "Just past our next quiz. An eighty or higher, and you can get six." *He tussled your hair before heading out, causing a slight hue to dust over your ears.
Was this man an angel? You had no clue. But at least you were getting books.
