Hanni's POV:
I was now rushing towards the cafeteria in hopes of getting there before Minji leaves or before lunchtime is over, and guess what, the bell rang. I wasn't even halfway there; all this running has made me realize how big this school really is. Oh wait, Minji, right, I have to apologize to Minji as soon as possible. She only has one class after lunch on Thursdays, and she was probably on her way to class. Luckily, I didn't have any, so I decided to wait until Minji's class was over.
I made my way over to Mrs. Choi's classroom, and by the time I reached it, everyone was inside and already studying. I walked around the classroom door until I got bored of doing that, so I decided to take a seat on the bench right across the classroom. If I waited there, I'd surely see Minji walk out. I took out my headphones, put on some calm and slow music while resting my head against the wall.
I don't know when and I don't know how I dozed off, but all I know is that Minji's class was over five minutes ago. I missed my chance to apologize to her. I texted Danielle that I missed her, and Dani only said that I was making excuses. I mean, it wasn't even that serious. Why do I have to apologize about that little argument back there in the cafeteria? I sighed and tossed my phone in my purse and everything else in the bag. I guess I'd have to follow Minji now. She couldn't have gone too far.
I knew she walked home at the end of school, and her mom dropped her off in the morning. With that information in mind, I made my way outside toward the school parking area and sat inside my Black Toyota RAV3. Yes, I had a car and a driver's license now. Most people would say that my parents spoiled me, but the car was never really for me; it's a hand-me-down I got from my step-sister.
I made sure to drive around slow just in case I missed Minji, and only after driving a few blocks from the school, I could see the familiar brunette walk down the sidewalk with headphones on.
The street was empty, so I carelessly honked my car a couple of times, but she obviously couldn't hear. Noise-canceling can be the worst feature at times like these. I even tried to flicker the headlights at her, but she just started walking faster. Great, she probably thought I was some creep. Out of annoyance, I banged my head on the steering wheel, earning a loud and long honk from the car. Now my head hurts because of multiple reasons.
I parked my car at the side and got out of it, slamming the door shut. Minji was basically running now, and so was I. I didn't know we were playing chase? I yelled at her from behind, asking her to stop, but the noise-canceling was my biggest enemy right now. I somehow ran fast enough to bump into Minji, causing both of us to have a painful fall on the concrete sidewalk.
My butt also hurts now.
"Oww! What the hell was that for, Hanni? I thought I was about to get kidnapped," Minji said while holding her head.
"I had been honking and flickering my lights at you for so long, Kim. You could've at least turned around to see who it was!" I said while also holding my head.
"What do you want, and why did you follow me? How do I know for sure that you aren't gonna kidnap me?"
"Minji, shut up. I'm not kidnapping you," I never thought I'd say those words.
"Then why else would you follow me down a dark and empty street? Or were you stalking me?"
I groaned in annoyance, "God, give me patience," I said loud enough for Minji to hear.
"I didn't mean to. I wasn't follo— Okay, I was following you, but only because I want to talk."
"You, me, talk? Like civilized human beings? That's new," Minji said while dramatically motioning her finger between the two of us.
