Minji's POV:
It was now Friday, and the four of us were supposed to have a sleepover tomorrow at Danielle's house, but we decided to go today instead. I was sitting in Mrs. Marsh's class, next to Hanni, and Haerin was right when she said that Mrs. Marsh was strict. Haerin and Danielle decided to leave together earlier than me and Hanni to set everything up, which meant that I was stuck with Hanni.
"You got an extra pen?" Hanni asked me. Hanni had been rather nice to me after Danielle admitted that she didn't have a crush on me and would like to remain friends, which I was grateful for.
"Why do you never bring your own stuff, Pham?" I said to her while taking an extra pen out of my pencil case. Why did she even need a pen? We were taking notes on our laptops.
"I do, your pen just writes better," she replied as she took the pen out of my hand.
"Or do you just need a reason to talk to me, Pham? Like me that much?" I said to her, raising one of my eyebrows at her in an obvious teasing manner.
"I'd rather talk to dead plants than sit here looking for an excuse to talk to you, Kim," she replied a little too fast. Okay, maybe she wasn't that nice yet, but I'm willing to give her time.
"Yeah, sure, whatever makes you sleep at night," I mumbled at her.
"You packed everything you needed for the sleepover, right?" Hanni asked me, changing the subject.
"Yes, why?"
"Because we're leaving right after this class," she replied. No wait, I have a class after this, and I won't be skipping in my first week of school in Dallas.
"I can't just skip my social sciences class. I have one last class after this," I said while looking at Hanni. She gave me an 'are you serious?' look.
"Stop acting like such a nerd. It's okay to skip sometimes," she said.
"No, it isn't, and why is the nice girl Hanni saying this? You never skip classes either."
"False assumptions, I do skip classes, just not often," she corrected me.
"I'm still not skipping my class, Pham."
"Kim Minji, I promise you Mrs. Choi doesn't give a flying fuck about you. She won't care if you skip just once."
"You might be right about Mrs. Choi not caring whether I skip or not, but I would miss a lot from today's class," I whisper-yelled at her because Hanni most definitely forgot that we were sitting in a class. Hanni was about to reply but got cut off by Mrs. Marsh.
"Minji Kim and Hanni Pham, silence!" Mrs. Marsh yelled at us.
"You're skipping, and that's final," Hanni said to me in a low tone when Mrs. Marsh turned her attention away from us. I just sighed in annoyance, not wanting to fight with her anymore. Maybe skipping once wouldn't be so bad.
Time went by painfully slow, but finally, the bell rang, indicating the end of Mrs. Marsh's class. Hanni and I packed up as fast as we could, eager to leave this torture room. On our way out, Mrs. Marsh was giving us a disappointed look. Little does she know, I'm going to be staying the night at her house.
Hanni nudged me from the side when we were finally out of the class. "She isn't that bad, I promise. In class, she is, but not outside the class. Haerin exaggerated only because Mrs. Marsh thinks Haerin is a brat. She likes me, but Haerin, not that much," Hanni said.
