The Next Day
The next morning, I wake up with a lingering sense of worry about Adam. The uncertainty from the night before has left me restless, and I can't shake the feeling that something might be wrong. Despite my concerns, I force myself to get up and start the day.
I dress up in a comfortable outfit...
I head to the kitchen to make breakfast. As I whisk the pancake batter, my mind drifts back to Adam's teasing voice over the phone. I can't tell if he was serious or just playing around, but the thought of him being hurt bothers me.
To distract myself, I decide to plan something fun for the day. A sleepover with my friends would be perfect. We could watch movies, do facials, and just have a good time together. The thought of a cozy night in with my best friends brings a smile to my face.
I finish making breakfast and sit down to eat, feeling a bit more at ease. Today is also the day people start asking their partners to the Valentine's party, and the excitement in the air is palpable. I wonder who will end up with whom, and the thought makes my heart race with anticipation.
After breakfast, I grab my phone and start texting my friends about the sleepover idea. Sophia and Mia are instantly on board, their enthusiasm evident in their rapid replies.
Sophia: "A sleepover sounds amazing! Count me in!"
Mia: "Yes! We can watch all the sappy rom-coms! Can't wait!"
I grin, feeling the excitement build. This sleepover is exactly what we need to unwind and have some fun.

When I reach school, the halls are buzzing with excitement. It's the day when everyone starts asking their partners to the Valentine's party, and the energy in the air is electric. As I walk towards my locker, I spot Michael and Mia up ahead, chatting and laughing together.
Sophia and I exchange mischievous glances as we approach them. "Well, well, well," Sophia teases, her voice dripping with mock seriousness. "Look who's already paired up for the party."
Mia blushes, but her smile is wide and bright. "Michael asked me yesterday," she admits, looking pleased.
"Oh, so that's why you were so giddy last night," I tease, nudging her playfully. "You two are going to be the cutest couple there."
Michael grins, slipping an arm around Mia's shoulders. "You bet we are."
We share a laugh, the light-hearted banter easing some of my lingering worries. But then I glance down the hall and see Alex walking with Anna. My heart sinks as I watch them together.
Anna, noticing my gaze, takes the opportunity to hold Alex's hand. The sight makes my stomach churn with a mix of anger and jealousy. I know I have no right to feel this way, but the emotions are hard to ignore.
