After a long day at school, Riley, Sophia, and Mia finally reach home, bubbling with excitement for their sleepover. They quickly change into their pajamas, the soft and cozy fabric adding to the comfort of the evening. Sophia heads to the kitchen to make popcorn, and Mia sets up the living room for their movie marathon.

Just as Riley is about to join them, the doorbell rings. She expects it to be Alex, arriving as planned, but when she opens the door, she's greeted by both Alex and Adam standing there, grinning like kids up to no good.

"Hey, hope you don't mind a plus one," Alex says, his eyes twinkling.

Riley feels a bit flustered but tries to hide it. "Uh, sure. Come on in."

As they step inside, Riley turns to Adam with a raised eyebrow. "And what are you doing here, exactly?"

Adam shrugs, looking far too pleased with himself. "Thought I'd crash the party. Can't let you have all the fun without me."

Riley crosses her arms, pretending to be annoyed. "Really, Adam? This was supposed to be a girl's night."

Adam leans in, a playful smirk on his face. "You know you love having me around."

Riley rolls her eyes but can't help the smile tugging at her lips. "Fine, but you better behave."

They make their way to the living room, where Sophia and Mia are already settling in with the popcorn. Riley explains the situation, and the girls laugh, welcoming the boys to join in.

"Alright, what movie are we starting with?" Alex asks, plopping down on the couch next to Riley.

Sophia grins mischievously. "How about a horror movie? Always good for a bit of a scare."

Riley groans inwardly. Horror movies are definitely not her thing, but the rest of the group seems excited, so she goes along with it.

As the movie starts, Riley finds herself getting increasingly tense, jumping at every scare. Adam, sitting on the other side of her, notices her discomfort and can't resist teasing her.

"Scared, Riley?" he whispers, leaning in close.

She gives him a sideways glance. "No. Just... not my favorite genre."

Alex, noticing her unease, gently takes her hand. "It's just a movie, Riley. I'm here."

His touch and words provide some comfort, but as the movie progresses, the tension in the room builds. Riley finds herself clinging to Alex's hand, trying to get through the terrifying scenes.

During the interval, I let out a sigh of relief. "That movie was way too scary," I admit, my voice trembling slightly.

Everyone looks at me and bursts into laughter. "You were so scared, Riley!" Sophia teases, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

I laugh along with them, feeling a bit embarrassed but also relieved that the tension has lifted. Alex stands up, stretching. "I'm going to get some ketchup from the kitchen. Anyone want to help?"

"I'll come with you," I say, eager for a break from the horror movie.

We head to the kitchen, and as Alex rummages through the fridge, I decide to ask a question that's been nagging at me. "So, Alex, why didn't you invite Anna tonight?"

He looks up, nonchalantly replying, "I didn't ask her."

I raise an eyebrow, trying to provoke him. "Really? I thought you two were getting pretty close."

Alex closes the fridge and turns to me, his expression unreadable. "Riley, what's this really about?"

I take a deep breath. "I just want to know..."

Before I can say anything more, he steps closer, pinning me against the wall, his hands resting on my waist. ""Would you...feel comfortable...if she was here..?"

My heart races, the proximity making it hard to think straight. "Alex..."

He leans in, his voice soft and sincere. "I didn't invite Anna because I wanted to be here with you. Just you."

The intensity of his gaze sends shivers down my spine, and I can't help but feel a rush of emotions.

He bends down to level my face with his...

There's just inches between our lips...

His hands grip my waist tightly...

I flinch at his touch...

I can't seem to look into his eyes...

Alex's grip on my waist tightens slightly, his voice barely above a whisper. "Riley, you mean more to me than you realize."

My heart races, and I feel a mix of confusion and longing. "Alex, I..."

He leans in closer, his breath warm against my skin. "Riley, I need you to know that you're the one I want to be with tonight, and every night."

He breathes in my neck, sending shivers down my spine.

"Alex..." I say trying to get out of his grip...

He tightens his grip and pulls me closer to him...

There is no space left between us...

He makes eye contact with me...

I don't know how red I am so I turn my gaze down...

He lifts my chin up, making me stare at his face again...

"Alex..." I barely whisper...

I clear my throat...

"We have to get back..." I finally say.

He nods...

He lets go of me...

We head back...

When we return, Adam's eyes narrow as he notices the shift between us. "What took you two so long?" he asks, a hint of jealousy in his voice.

I quickly make up an excuse. "Just... trying to find the ketchup."

Adam doesn't seem convinced but lets it go. I decide to sit with him for the rest of the movie, hoping to ease some of the tension.

Adam's POV

As the movie ends, the room is filled with a mix of relief and exhaustion. Riley, who had been tense throughout the horror film, finally relaxes and dozes off on my shoulder. I notice her soft breathing and the way she leans into me, her eyes closed in peaceful slumber.

I gently shift, careful not to wake her, and lift her into my arms. Riley stirs slightly but remains asleep, her head resting against my chest. Just as I starts to carry her to the room, Alex stands up, a flash of jealousy in his eyes.

"Hey, I can take her," Alex says, stepping forward, his voice tense.

I, unfazed, reply, "I've got her, Alex. She's fine."

The tension between us is palpable, but before it can escalate, Sophia steps in. "Alex, Anna's been calling you. You should check your phone."

Alex hesitates, clearly torn between his feelings for Riley and his obligations to Anna. He knows the consequences of ignoring Anna's calls and reluctantly nods, stepping back. "Fine. Just make sure she's comfortable."

I nod nonchalantly and continues carrying Riley to the room, laying her down gently on the bed. I brush a strand of hair from her face, my expression softening. "Sleep well, Riley," I whisper.

I caress her cheek, wishing she could be mine one day...
