Avya

I knew fate was cruel, but this cruel.

I was still standing at the corner, watching the scene unfold in front of my eye.

"Bhai" Vrit said, as he followed Hridhaan who hurried up the stairs without looking back.

And I followed them, up, my mind was stunned, shock, I was acting on instinct at this point.

I don't care if I'm breaking Tara Singhania's damn rules, I just want to confirm to myself, what? I don't know?

Was he really Vrit?

If yes, then he has a storm coming at him.

I needed to know if my eyes were deceiving me. If this man really was Vrit, then he had a lot to answer for.

The staircase wound upward, and my footsteps felt heavy, echoing through the empty halls.

My mind racing with a thousand thoughts at once.

Memories of betrayal, pain, and unanswered questions swirled around me.

Vrit had left without a word two years back, disappearing when I needed him the most, when sam needed him.

Now he was back, talking to Hridhaan like nothing had changed.

I reached the top floor just as they disappeared into a room.

The door was slightly ajar, and I could hear their voices.

I pressed myself against the wall, breathing fast, my anger bubbling to the surface.

I had to force myself to calm down, to not barge in and demand answers right there.

Inside, Hridhaan's voice cut through the air, deep and commanding. "Vrit, you're not in your right mind. Marriage isn't something to take lightly. Think twice before you make an impulsive decision."

I rolled my eyes. Look what a hypocrite, I'll deal with this psychopath later.

Right now, I needed to focus on Vrit.

"But, Bhai, I'm over her," Vrit replied, his voice tinged with a sadness that twisted something in my gut.

"I no longer believe in happily ever after. It's all just fairy tales." His words sounded almost resigned, but I couldn't help feeling the bitterness beneath them.

What happened to the Vrit I knew? The one who promised Samaira forever, who made grand gestures? Where was he now?

"And if marrying some girl helps the business, then I'll do it," Vrit added, his tone indifferent. "It's just business, nothing personal."

I clenched my fists, my knuckles white with tension.

He spoke so casually about throwing away a commitment he once held dear, treating marriage as if it were a mere transaction.

It was like the time he spent with Sam meant nothing, that all the promises he'd made were empty words.

I leaned against the wall, my heart pounding in my chest.

Vrit-" Hridhaan started, but I wasn't in the mood to hear anything.

My anger had reached its boiling point.

The weight of everything that had happened-the betrayals, the lies, the frustration -pressed down on me like a crushing weight.

I had gone through so much, Sam has gone through so much too. And the frustration of past few days building up.
