Chapter 18: Gearing Up

Egon and Braedey were helping Jillian fix up wearable Proton Packs, similar to their own.

"Okay," said Braedey, "Now, the cooling system should work well, and help the system."

"Oh, you guys are too safe," said Jillian, "You need to lighten up, get adventurous!"

"Oh, so, you wanna be responsible for the deaths of the only people who might be able to stop the ghosts?" asked Seth sarcastically, "Then go ahead, be known as the biggest screw up in the world, and remove that cooling system."

"...... Buzz kill," said Jillian.

"Look, Jillian," said Egon, "These are NOT toys, these are highly unstable proton accelerators. Now, either you listen to us, of we will report you to the safety of engineering, and have your license revoked."

Tamara then appeared with some parts, and said, "Here's the spare parts you wanted Braedey."

"Thank you Ms. Darling," said Egon.

"Just call me Tamara, Dr. Spengler," said Tamara.

"Okay," said Seth, with a white board and stick, "Now, the real way to do this, is to pull in the opposite direction. It actually tires out the ghosts of their energy, and will be easier to put into the trap."

"But in a group," said Titan, flipping it over, "You all work together to hold the ghost in place. However, if these Proton Packs are the same as ours, then there is one important thing you must remember."

"What's that?" asked Erin.

"Don't cross the streams," said Titan, "As Braedey put it, crossing the streams would make every single molecule in your body explode at the speed of light."

"Woah," said Abby, "total protonic reversal."

"Now that's out of the way," said Seth, "What was it that dude said to that woman?"

"The fourth cataclysm," said Patty, who was just casually sitting in the booth.

"Oh yeah," said Kevin, "You have a visitor."

Jasmine then grabbed Kevin by the ear, and said, "Please excuse us. We'll have a talk with Kevin here."

Kevin was dragged off by Jasmine and Janine.

Just then, the phone rang, and Janine said, "I'll get it."

"Okay," said Erin, "Remember, we're the Conductors of the Metaphysical Exa-"

"Ghostbusters, how can I help you?" asked Janine.

Some rambling was heard, and Janine then said, "OH YEAH!! WELL, HOW ABOUT WE BUST YOUR DEAD GRANDMOTHER!? IF YOU EVEN HAD ONE!!"

Then more speaking was heard on the phone, as Janine said, "YEAH!! GO CRY TO YOUR MOMMY!! SEE IF I CARE!"

Janine then hung up, and said, "Critics."

"Why do you keep calling us Ghostbusters?" asked Abby.

"Because, it's short, it's simple, and easy to remember," said Seth.

"So, why are you here?" asked Peter, "I mean, don't you have a job over at the subway?"

"Nah, I quit that job," said Patty, "Besides, I feel you could need me."

"With what?" asked Abby.

"Look," said Patty, getting up, "I read a lot of nonfiction. And you guys seem to know a lot about this science stuff, but I know all about New York. And, check this out. I can borrow a car, from my uncle, and ya'all can have more room than being crammed into that single vehicle."
