Maeve had a descion to make, walk into her home and cause a scene or play Charles at his own game. The train to Monaco was deathly silent. People were sat around her chatting and laughing the night away but to Maeve the atmosphere was cold. She couldn't help but feel guilty, guilty that she hadn't shed a single tear since finding out her father had killed himself. Maeve didn't know what to feel. When she thought hard about it, she didn't really know her father all that well. She spent the majority of her time with her mother when she was around as her father worked all day and sometimes all night just to avoid his wife and his miserable life. A happy memory didn't spring to her mind when she thought of her father, because there was no memories, just the faint sounds in the back of her mind of door slamming and arguments and upon arguments between her parents. Little conversations were exchanged between her and her father, it wasn't that she didn't want to talk to him, she just didn't know what to say to him, there was never really anything to talk about. Maeve couldn't change the past no matter how badly she wanted to. Maybe if she told him she loved him more, or made an effort to bond with her dad , things could have been different. But what is done is done and unfortunately these things cannot be undone once they are set into motion.

As she walked up the driveway to her house, she noticed the bedroom light was on meaning Charles was awake. The time was past 12 in the morning. She glanced down at her phone and saw she had 30 missed calls from her supposed husband. Why care now? He had just dropped a bombshell on Maeve, one no one could have ever prepared her for.

As I said, Maeve had a choice to make, walk into her home and cause a scene or play Charles at his own game. She chose the latter as it was about time Charles Leclerc got a taste of his own medicine. She placed her key in the door and prepared her self like she was preparing for a battle. But then again marriage with Charles is not exactly heaven.

'Maeve' His voice filled the room as she turned to close the front door. She couldn't bring herself to look at him just yet, she needed a moment to calm down. 'Where have you been, I've been so worried!' Worried? This guy had never had to worry about anything in his life and he has the nerve to say he was worried.

'I had to wait for a flight, they were all sold out.' Maeve said bluntly as she placed her keys on the counter and walked through the kitchen, footsteps could be heard following her.

Charles reached out and pulled her into a hug. She would have done anything at any other time to held in in Charles's embrace but now, it just felt so wrong. He held her close to his chest close enough she could hear his ice cold heart pumping in his chest. She held her hands loosely around him, trying to not breathe in the smell of his after shave that would compel to her to tell him she loved him. His presence fucked with her like that. After a moment she pulled away and composed herself, but she tried to hide that she wanted to get away from him.

'I've been where you are right now before. It hurts like hell but you can get through this. You've got me, I'm here to help you get through this Maeve.' Charles rubbed his thumb across Maeve's cheek in a comforting manner, but his touch made her feel stiff.

'I'm fine.' She spoke bluntly. She was anything but. Her mind was doing overtime trying to under the situation that had occurred previously in the day

Charles frowned at her, he thought she was acting this way because of the shock, he had no idea she was going to reveal the truth in only a matter of time. 'I told you your dad has died and you're fine? Don't lie to me love, I'm here for you!'

His lies were giving Maeve a headache, he was the last thing she needed today. When she woke up this morning it was the best day of her life. Her song was realised and she was touring London doing press conferences and now, it's just a day from hell. 'I told you I'm fine Charles, what do you want me to say!'

'You don't need to hide your emotions from me. We are a team Maeve. You can come to me with any problem at anytime. I'll always be here!' He spoke firmly but Charles didn't even realise what he was saying. He sound like a hypocrite and truth be told that's what he was. There was a time where he couldn't give a damn about how anything made Maeve feel, she was just an inconvenience to his lavish life. And now, his heart breaks for her because he understand better than anyone how she feels right now.

'It's been a long day, I just want to go to bed.' Maeve pushed by him to head for the stairs but he held onto her hand as she passed by him.

'I love you.' He spoke softly

Maeve didn't know what to, she had made her feeling perfectly clear to him earlier in the day. It's great how the tables have turned, she's normally the one trying to get Charles to love her back. But in this moment all she could respond was 'Do you though?'
