Two days later, I was sitting at a table with Benito and his lawyer. I had just signed the papers they had needed me to sign - it was mostly settlements - and now I was preparing myself to leave. I had not spoken to Benito since the incident at David's apartment; I had avoided conversations revolving around it. His lawyer said his goodbyes and hurried out of the room, leaving Benito and me alone.
"Are you okay?" he asked concerned, watching me put the copies of the settlements into my bag.
"Couldn't be better." I answered and forced a smile on my face. Benito eyed me and nodded with his lips pressed together.
"Please don't lie to me." he said, causing me to sigh in response.
"Okay, I'm not alright but I don't want to talk about it." I gave in.
"Okay, I respect that. What are you gonna do now?" he wanted to know. I shrugged and closed my bag.
"I don't know... Probably binge watch a show and drown myself in ice cream." I told him. Since the incident with David, I had fallen back into the pattern of isolating myself. This was a thing that I hated about myself and I wish I could've changed it but whenever I tried to go out or hang out with the girls, I canceled last minute.
"What about you?" I then asked.
"There's a spa here, I think I might check it out." Benito gave back and got up from his chair. I nodded in response and stretched myself, causing my lower back to crack loudly.
"Sounds like you could need some relaxation as well." Benito commented when he heard it.
"I do but I don't have the money to waste a day at a spa." I replied, getting up from my chair as well. Benito eyed me in amusement, then he walked over to the room door to open it for me.
"I paid for it anyways when I booked the room, so don't worry about that." he said. I looked at him in disbelief and started shaking my head. Although it sounded great, I had to decline because I was sure that it wouldn't be free for me.
"I appreciate the offer but no." I told him, walking towards the door as well.
"Oh, come on. You shouldn't be isolating yourself now and sometimes you can start taking things people offer you." he tried to convince me. The way he looked at me made it incredibly hard to say no, so I sighed and gave in. Maybe this would distract me at least a little bit.
"Fine, but only for a few hours." I finally said, causing Benito to smile widely at me.
One hour later, the hotel had brought us two bags with towels, robes and flip flops in them. Very much to my surprise, they did not charge Benito for taking me to the spa and so I was willing to maybe enjoy it. As we entered the spa area, we got greeted by a friendly employee who led us to the changing rooms. There was a bathing suit in my bag as well, apparently Benito had told them to burrow me one since I didn't bring anything. As I had changed, I looked at myself in the mirror. Ever since David had cheated on me, I had found things on my body that really bothered me such as my small breast and way to small hips. I honestly had never thought about that until I had caught him with his new girlfriend who had curves on end. Quickly, I put the robe over myself, slipped into the flip flops and put the clothes I had worn into one of the lockers in the changing room. Benito was waiting for me in front of the door; he was doing something on his phone. When he noticed me, he locked his phone and put it in the pocket of his shorts.
"Ready?" he asked. I nodded in response and followed him through the door that led to the spa. The friendly employee approached us again.
"We offer massages and all kinds of skin care if you'd like to try." he told us as he was leading us towards the pools.
