Lilly's words of encouragement calmed my racing thoughts, and i took a deep breath, trying to shake off the anxiety. "You're right, Lilly. I just need to focus on the present and take things one step at a time."
Lilly nodded, her eyes filled with understanding. "Exactly! And I'll be right here beside you, every step of the way. We'll build our construction firm, and we'll raise your child together. We'll show the world what we're capable of!"
I smiled, feeling a surge of gratitude towards Lilly. "Thanks, Lilly. Just knowing you're here for me makes all the difference."
We sat in comfortable silence for a moment, each wondering what our life would be like henceforth. Then, Lilly spoke up, her voice filled with determination. "You know what? Let's make a plan. Let's start making a list of all the things we need to do to get our construction firm off the ground. And let's start looking for a place to live in Lagos."
My heart swelled with excitement and hope. I knew that with Lilly by my side, I could face anything that came my way. "Let's do it!" I exclaimed, a smile spreading across my face.
Lilly pulled out her phone and opened the notes app, starting to type away. "Okay, so first things first, we need to come up with a name for our construction firm. Something that reflects our values and our mission."
I thought for a moment, then suggested, "How about 'New Horizon Builders'? It represents a fresh start and a brighter future."
Lilly's eyes lit up. "I love it! 'New Horizon Builders' it is, then. And with my divorce settlement, we have enough funds to get us started. We can focus on building a solid business structure and finding our first clients."
I nodded, my mind racing with ideas. "Exactly! And your cousin in Lagos, Tunde, can give us valuable insights into the local market. We should reach out to him and see if he can meet with us when we're in town."
Lilly smiled. "Definitely. Tunde will be a great resource for us. Now, let's talk about our business structure. We'll need to decide on a partnership model, and how we'll divide responsibilities."
I thought for a moment. "I think we should be equal partners, and divide responsibilities based on our strengths. You've got a background in finance, so you can handle the money side of things. And I've got experience in project management, so I can oversee the construction side."
Lilly nodded, impressed. "That sounds like a great plan. And for building our clientele, we can start by networking with local architects and real estate agents. We can also offer competitive pricing and exceptional customer service to build our reputation."
As we continued to brainstorm and plan, I felt a sense of excitement and purpose wash over me. I knew that starting a construction firm wouldn't be easy, but at least I wasn't doing it alone.
As we sat there, lost in our vision of the future, the only thing that mattered was the excitement and anticipation of what was to come. And with that, we both knew that nothing could stop us from achieving our dreams.
We spent the next few hours discussing everything from marketing strategies to financial projections, their ideas flowing freely as we worked together seamlessly.
As the sun began to set, Lilly and I finally took a break, exhausted but exhilarated by the progress we had made. We sat back on our couch, feeling grateful for the friendship and partnership that had brought us to this moment.
"You know, Lilly," I said, turning to Lilly with a smile, "I don't think I could have done this without you. You've been my rock through all of this."
Lilly reached out and took my hand, her eyes shining with warmth. "It's a pleasure being your friend Sarah. You really should stop thanking me. We're working together here."
