Okay. Here my out. This ship and Sonally are probably the most controversial ships in the sense of shipping wars. And I've seen a lot of people hating on Sonally during my time in this fandom. But I love them. I love them a lot. They are and always will be a 10/10 for me. I think it's the 'opposites attract' that gets me.
In the Gameverse, they'd never work. In the games, Sonic is a free spirit who chooses to fight because he can. While eventually villains like Eggman and Mephiles and Infinite and stuff become so bad that he has to fight, originally, Sonic fights because he can. The only reason Sonic got involved with Eggman in the first place is because he was passing by and decided to kick some ass. But Sonic in the comics is different. In the Archie comics, Sonic fights for his home and for his friends. He doesn't really choose to fight, he has to. Eggman threatens everything from the beginning, taking over Mobotropolis, and Sonic, just a kid, has to fight.
Their relationship is built on trust and loyalty. Sally is a princess who is constantly working and instilling duty, meanwhile Sonic loves to live on his own path and play by his own rules. They are opposites, and that often comes up in their relationship. But what comes up more often is respect and trust. At times, Sonic will let Sally lead him, because he trusts her judgement. At times, Sally will let Sonic break the rules, because she trusts him to make the right decisions. Despite their differences, they respect each other's different personalities and strategies. They may not always be on the same page, but in the end, they love each other. The Mecha Sally arc made me SOB I can't even istg
So yeah they are my ❤️. 10/10. I love them. As others have said, they are the ultimate "I know where to find you" and "you know where to look" couple they are AMAZING
