The ear-piercing sound of the bell echoed throughout the hallways. The kids exited the classroom in a surprisingly orderly fashion. The hallways, however, were chaos. All the kids were meeting up with their friends, and then going outside. If you were new to this school, you would figure out pretty fast that this was dueling period. Two hours of fun.
A young boy, who was 12 years old, was navigating the hallway, looking for his friends. He had four of them, so surely he could find one. His light brown eyes searched the hallways for any signs of his friends. He wasn't being too careful, because he bumped straight into someone. He hit the ground, and landed on his bottom. He looked up at the person he had run into.
A 13 year old girl helped him up. She had black hair, and brown eyes, just like the boy. They were brother and sister.
"Looking for anyone, Kai?" The girl asked. She was the same height as her younger brother, even though she was older by a year. She ruffled his jet black hair, which was short, and spiked in the front.
"Thank goodness, Sarah. Have you found any of the others?" Kai asked.
Sarah nodded. "I found Lexi and Zao. I still haven't found Payton," Sarah replied.
Just then, a Dirty blonde haired girl came running up to Sarah and Kai. A brown haired boy was following her.
"Sarah! Kai! We found Payton. She's dueling Sebastian, and it's not going good!" Lexi exclaimed. Her Emerald green eyes were full of worry.
If you were wondering, Sebastian is the meanest kid in school, in the hallways, and in duel monsters. He always picks on kids younger than him. It was no surprise that a 12 year old was his target. If you lose to Sebastian in a duel, he'll take your duel disk. And probably the most revolting part about him: He has a crush on Sarah. And Sarah hates his guts.
The group ran outside, to where Zao had said Payton was. They looked around, until they saw Sebastian. On the other side of the field, was a young girl with red brown hair. She was lying on the ground, struggling to get up. She was injured badly from the duel.
"Aww, come on! Get up so I can smash you back down!" Sebastian jeered. He had three powerful monsters on his side of the field. Payton had none.
"Payton!" Kai exclaimed. He ran over to her, and stopped at her side. He helped her stand up. Her knees were shaking from the pain.
"Wow, she must be at 50 life points or something," Sarah remarked.
Zao was just able to make out the life points on the display. "She's at 2000 life points!" Zao exclaimed.
Lexi and Sarah were extremely surprised. "What? Then why is she so weak right now?" Lexi asked.
Zao looked closer at the action. "I don't know. There's something going on," Zao remarked.
This wasn't like Payton. She was strong, and would never fall to her knees, even if her last life point drained away. Zao was right. Something WAS up. But what?
"Now, I summon Gogogo golem in attack mode!" Sebastian yelled. A holographic monster appeared on Sebastian's side of the field. "And I equip him with fighting spirit. That gives him 300 more attack points! And if he's going to be destroyed, I can discard this instead!" Sebastian said. He pointed at Payton, who was gripping onto a light pole with one hand. "You're finished. Gogogo golem, attack her directly!"
The golem ran at Payton. His brought back it's fist, and hit her. Her life points drained from 2000 to 0. Payton went flying backwards. She hit the ground, and didn't get back up.
Kai ran over to her. She was unconscious. There were cuts and bruises on her body from the fight. Suddenly, the shadow of Sebastian hovered over Kai. He looked up.
Sebastian ripped the duel disk from her arm. "That's what happens when you lose," He said.
Sarah, Zao, and Lexi ran over to Payton. Sebastian caught sight of Sarah. He approached her.
"Hello, Darling. Did you see me mop the floor with this little twit?" He asked.
"What did you do to her?" Sarah asked through gritted teeth.
Sebastian just laughed. "Nothing special. When she saw me take away a kid's duel disk and deck, she challenged me. You know that duel disk damage levels are set at 1, right?" He asked.
Sarah looked at her duel disk damage level, it was set at one. "Yes, that's the rules, Sherlock."
"Well, since I bested 3 kids, I set the damage level to 4 for this duel," Sebastian said.
"You jerk!" Zao yelled. He came at Sebastian, his fists ready for a fight.
Sebastian kicked Zao in the gut. He went flying back.
"Zao!" Lexi exclaimed. She ran over to him.
"I'm fine," Zao said, sitting up. He glared at Sebastian. "You'll pay for what you did to our friend!"
Sebastian laughed. "Fat chance." He then looked at Sarah. "Hey, instead of hanging around these losers, why don't you hang around with Me and the boys?" He asked.
"I'd rather die." She glared at him. "You better give her back her duel disk," Sarah ordered.
Sebastian shrugged. "A deal's a deal," He said.
Kai stepped forward. "If you won't give it back now, then I'll duel you," He said.
"Fine. I'm setting the damage level to 5," Sebastian said. He set the damage level to 5.
Sarah put a hand on Kai's shoulder. "Kai, I don't want you to do this," She pleaded. But her younger brother wouldn't listen.
"I have to, Sarah. He injured my best friend, and now he's gonna pay," Kai replied. Kai turned his duel disk on. "So get ready!"
"Kai! What are you thinking? You could get seriously hurt!" Sarah exclaimed.
Kai shrugged. "I'll live. Hopefully. Keep an eye on Payton for me," He said.
Sarah nodded. She couldn't believe that her younger brother was being so brave. And so stupid. But she had faith in him.
Sebastian laughed. "You're the one who should get ready. To lose. If you win, you get all the duel disks back. But if you lose, then I get your duel disk," Sebastian said.
Kai nodded. "Then let's duel!"
