Chapter four

Zao's eyes went wide. "Payton..... Surrendered?" He asked.

"What's gotten into her?" Lexi asked out loud.

Kai was still holding Payton, who was still trembling in fear. The bell rang, signaling the end of school. "Come on, let's get you to the game shop. Your uncle can help you."

"Uncle Drew? I'm home!" Payton called.

Uncle Drew turned around. "Well, hello, Payton. Oh, and you brought your friends, too! Wonderful!" He said.

Uncle Drew was a jolly person. He was always happy, and always willing to help out.

"Um, Mr. Drew? We have a problem," Kai said. He explained the situation.

"Hmm....Very serious indeed." Uncle Drew thought for a moment. "Well, what you did at school would have been what I suggested. I do have a friend that went through the exact same thing. If I can remember correctly, he did the same thing, except he dueled in a different location, so no memories would pop up," Uncle Drew said.

Lexi nodded. "Then let's do it!"

"Get ready to lose, Payton!" Zao called from his half of the field.

"Zao, how about you not trash talk," Kai said.

"Well, dueling isn't dueling without trash talk!" He shot back. Zao drew five cards. "Ladies first."

Payton drew her five cards. She then drew another card. "I summon Magician's Valkeria in attack mode!" Payton said.

A Magician girl appeared on the field. She waved at Zao.

"I'll set two cards face down. Your turn," Payton said.

Zao drew a card. "I play hunter of black feathers in attack mode!" He said.

A hunter wearing feathers appeared on the field. He held a spear in his hand.

"Since my hunter has more attack points than your Magician, i'm attacking! Go, hunter!" Zao yelled.

The hunter slammed it's spear into the Magician. She disappeared. The glass shards flew at Payton, causing her to lose 100 life points.

"I'll set a card face down. Go ahead," Zao said.

Payton drew a card. "I'll set this monster facedown. That's it for me," She said.

Zao drew a card. "I summon Familiar knight in attack mode!" He said. Zao looked at the field. "I'm going to leave that defense monster alone. I'll also set a card face down. Your turn," He said.

Payton drew a card. "Just what I needed." She looked at Zao. "First, I'll flip my monster face up," She said. Two ghosts appeared out of the card.

Lexi gasped. "It's double coston," She said.

"This card acts as two monsters if I tribute it for a dark type monster." Payton held up a card. "Which is exactly what I plan to do! I tribute Double Coston for my dark magician!" She said. She place the tributes card in the graveyard, and then she put the dark magician card down on the field.

Zao smirked. "I was hoping you'd do that! You just activated my trap card, torrential tribute! It destroys all monsters on the field!" Zao exclaimed. The entire field was wiped clean of monsters.

"That was a pretty good move, but what about Zao's monsters?" Sarah asked.

"I wouldn't worry. Zao always has something up his sleeve," Lexi said.

"I hope you're right. He might have panicked and completely forgot," Sarah said.

"That's not too out of the question either," Lexi replied.

Payton started at where her dark magician used to be. "Your turn."

Zao drew a card. "I play monster reborn! It lets me bring back any monster from either player's graveyard, and put it on my side of the field. And I think I'll take dark magician!" Zao exclaimed.

Dark magician appeared again, this time on Zao's side of the field.

"Now attack her directly!" Zao exclaimed.

"Hold up! I activate magical cylinder! It negates your attack and sends it right at your life points!" Payton said.

Dark magician attacked the cylinder. It absorbed the attack, and sent it right at Zao. He slid back a little. "Not too shabby!" He said. He looked at Payton. "Your turn."

Current standings:
Zao- 1500 life points remaining
Payton- 3900 life points remaining

Payton drew a card. "I activate change of heart! It lets me take control of your monster until the end phase! Dark Magician is on my side now!" She said.

Dark magician disappeared, and then reappeared on Payton's side of the field. "Now, Dark Magician, finish this!"

Dark magician attacked Zao directly. His life points dropped to 0. "Well, looks like you win, Payton."

"Yes! I did it!" Payton said, jumping into the air.

"Do you feel less afraid?" Kai asked.

Payton nodded. "I think I'm back to normal."

Sebastian was organizing his deck. "How could that little brat have beaten me? Ugh.. I'll show him."

All of a sudden, a bright light appeared in front of Sebastian. It morphed into the shape of a pendulum. It started to swing side to side in a very rhythmical patten. Sebastian felt his brain being hypnotized, but he couldn't do anything about it.

"Yes Sebastian..... Relax your mind....... Let the Pendulum take over......"

Sebastian fell on his bed, fast asleep.

A ghost hand grabbed Sebastian's deck, and swapped it with a new deck.

"Yessss........ Let the Pendulum take over......"
