31| JAYDEN'S CHEATING
•ONE ASTONISHING MINUTE I'm pulled into a hard, warm chest, and then the next minute Dale is expertly kissing me with my back pressed against the cold windowpanes of his apartment.
It feels like a dream, but with my palms splayed against his bare, bronze and sculpted chest, feeling the heat of his torso clear in my soul, I can only guarantee that this is actually happening.
I catch my breath as his warm lips gently runs along the tender flesh at the base of my neck. My eyes instantly flutters shut, sensation aching through my skin as heat spreads between us. My finger eagerly intertwines with a fitful of soft curls, and when his teeth presses deeper into my skin, I wince pleasurably at the pain.
"You like that don't you." Dale says against my skin. I shiver involuntarily at the excited thrill that flurries through my body as I ache like a desperate, horny woman against the icy windowpane. Dale chuckles at my reaction, slipping his hands underneath my sweater and then deftly captures my hardened breast in the encapsulation of my lace bra.
A strained moan escapes my swollen mouth as I throw back my head and grind myself against the bulge straining from his pants. Dale presses a few more kisses on my collarbone and then pulls away to stare at me over heavily lidded eyes. "You're very beautiful." He says softly, his hypnotizing gaze slowly raking down my face until it zeros on my lips.
I ignore the way my heart is pounding erratically against my rib cages and wrap my arms around his neck, pressing my chest against his so he can feel my reaction to his touch. Dale smiles down at me, drawing my bottom lip lower with his thumb. Desire feels palpable. And when he lowers his lips to mine in a slow, gently kiss, my brain goes foggy on me.
I reach down for his zippers, but Dale's hand is on top mine, stopping me from getting the job done. "No, Hayley. I can't do you like that. Not today, please." He says breathlessly.
A warm smile forms on my lips as I stare up at him. "Okay." I whisper, trailing my thumb along the sharp, angular planes of his jaw, relishing in the look in his dazzling eyes. "Kissing you is enough for me today, Dale."
Dale catches my hand, and when he plants a kiss inside my palm, I'm contemplating whether to take back my words or to just enjoy the intense pleasure he so unconsciously gives.
"Thank you." He guilelessly returns.
And when the sound of the doorbell echoes through the apartment, my butterflies condensed tummy instantly growls with hunger. "About time." I say, as Dale slowly lowers me to the floor and presses a kiss on my forehead before going to answer the door. I haughtily watch him as he ambles off. The buff muscles of his dusky, bare back flexing as he walks away. Thanking my lucky stars, I turn towards the large windows and expel a deep, contented sigh.
My limps are still wobbly as I stare outside at the dusty orange that grazes the evening sky. Down, on the sidewalks, the last fallen auburn leaves of trees piles on the ground, donning it with a carpet of vibrant hues. Winter is coming.
Dale returns shortly afterwards with plastic string bags of Chinese takeouts. He smiles when he sees me fuss about with my hair that is definitely sticking all over the place. "Dinner for a beautiful lady. Although I would love to take you to a fancy restaurant." He pouts, disposing the takeouts on the wrapped countertop.
I scoff, strutting towards him. "Well, I'd rather stay here alone with you than to be surrounded by strangers." I say coyly, standing up on my toes to kiss him. "Mmm." Dale's voice comes out in a low purr as he circles his large hands around me and pulls me flush against his sturdy chest, deepening the kiss.
My head is immediately echoing with the pounding of my pulse as the kiss escalates from tenderness to demanding and full of need. As quickly as it had started, when my tummy gurgles with hunger, Dale pulls away and gushes with apologies.
Finally sitting down on one of the matching oak chairs and digging into paper bowls of stir-fry noodle dishes and Kung Pao chickens, the thought about the reason I'm actually here bursts into my mind. "Earlier when you said you had something very important to talk to me about, what was it?" I ask, idly playing with my chopsticks as I watch Dale across the granite island.
Dale swallows his mouthful and stares uneasily back at me. "Well,—," he starts, averting his gaze.
"C'mon, there's nothing to hide now, is there?" I straighten in my wooden chair, afraid he might bail out on me.
Dale abstractedly swirls his chopsticks around his bowl of noodles. With my gut churning with dread, I reach out and intertwine my fingers with his. Dale looks up and stares sadly at me, and that alone verifies the dread that forges heavily inside my chest.
"It's about Jayden, isn't it?"
When Dale refuses to meet my eyes but instead clenches and unclenches his jaw, I take that as a yes and chew on the inside of my cheeks.
"Is it really bad?" I ask breathlessly, squirming in my stool with a cowering breath.
Dale exhales heavily and pins me with an impassive look. "Jayden is my guy, but inasmuch as his doing something very wrong I cannot possibly side with him."
"Something very wrong?" I quirk a brow.
"Jayden has been cheating on you for a very long time, Hayley."
