"Dad," they said.
Lexi ran into their dad's arms "hi sweetie, are you having a fun day?" he asked, "yeah where's mom?" they wondered "she's off guarding the palace remember she won't be home for weeks," he said, "So it's just you and me," they asked, "yes that's it just us Lexi you ready for your new school," he asked, "but daddy do I have to go I'll miss you so much," they said, "it will be okay your mother and I are so proud of you" he said.
Lexi smiled "but I don't want to hide who I am I'm a strong dragon like mommy," they said, "I know your dragon is part of you along with your fae, but people will want you, sweetie remember, you're a special dragon, but faes are normal. They live all over your mother has worked so hard to become a royal guard to the royal dragon family there are not many dragons left in his world, sweetie it would help if you protect yourself at all costs," he said, "but I'm only ten years old, Daddy" they said. "I know. Still, you need to know these things for when your older and on your own one day when your mom and I are gone when you have a family of your own," he said, "I don't ever want to lose you, Daddy, you and mommy are my everything" they said.
He picked them up smiling "let's enjoy your last day together, but you'll see your mom and me at holiday your mom will be home, and she'll know how powerful and strong you've become," he said, "okay, Daddy," you said.
He put Lexi down, letting them have fun with their dad one last time before they had to go to this boarding school far away from their parents forever.
Lexi went inside to grab a board game while their dad made homemade pizza, one of their favourites "did you grab uno again?" he asked, "you know it's my favourite, Dad" they said, "I know tonight we do what you want to make you happy" he said.
He sat pizzas on the table as they sat down with the cards, one last fun night, one more happy moment with their family.
Lexi's dad carried them to their room, tucking them in "got everything your stuffie dragon?" he asked, "yep, thank you, Daddy, for everything," they said.
Lexi woke up the next morning, went to their bathroom, got ready for the day, and was prepared to leave their home behind for a new home.
They wore a black dress with black underwear white leggings and black flats, looking up at their face their fae ears were nice and pointy, like usual their short white hair was a mess their golden eyes were shining brightly they grabbed their toothbrush, brushing their sharp fangs soon, they would have to hide it all for their protection their ruby red dragon was the same as their mother.
They brushed their teeth, brushed their hair, and transformed back to their fake selves, the long brown hair they shared with their mother and green eyes, putting it in a ponytail and a matching black headband they walked out to the kitchen/living room their home was all connected, with no walls and all open "Daddy, I'm ready to go," they said.
Lexi's dad turned around in front of the stove, smiling at them "you look amazing, Lexi you're so cute and grown up I'm so proud of you I made pourage with blueberries, strawberries, and eggs I hope you'll like it," he said.
Lexi sat down, smiling their dad set a plate with a bowl of pourage, eggs on the side, and a glass of orange juice "growing girls need every nutrient" he said, "dad, I'm not a kid," they said, "I know you'll just always be a little girl to me" he said,
Lexi ate until they were full "can we go now?" they asked, "of course, get your coat on and grab yoru bag" he said.
Lexi, walked to the front door, grabbed their white coat with one red rose in the flower pocket, grabbed their things, and walked out to the car dad says Fae don't fly, dragons don't fly, so use other things like cars, boats, planes, or horse-drawn carriages to get to places.
Lexi got into the back as their dad walked out, locked up the house, walked to the car with his keys, unlocked them, got in the front and driver's seats, and started the car "let's get you to that new school I can't wait to tell your mom how good you have been, Lexi," he said "okay, daddy," they said.
He started his car and driving away to this particular school that their parents talked so highly about.
The car ride felt like forever until the car came to a stop "Dad, are we there?" they asked, "yes, sweetie, wake up," he said.
Lexi opened their eyes and looked around the place it was vast and full of kids, all kinds of kids "Daddy, why can't I show off my dragon here? Others get too," they said, "yes because they are other types of creatures do you see any dragons?" he asked.
Lexi looked a little bit more, seeing other types but no dragons "they won't show themselves," he said, "okay, Daddy, let's get going," they said.
Lexi grabbed their things in one hand and their dad's hand in the other, walking into the school and to the principal's or headmistress's office, whichever had ruined the school.
They sat in a chair beside their dad, looking at the woman before them "miss Lexi riding," she said, "I'm nonbinary, no she or he," they said, "well, your secret is safe with this school no one knows that part of you; you are another face in the crowd I welcome you to our school Lexi saint Peters is welcome to any creature in this world this school is home to many who feel unwanted you are an outcast; you are free to be yourself here no need to hide who you are," she said. "thank you, ma'am; I hope my parents will be proud of me just give me my schedule and dorm room I love you, Daddy", they said, "I'll miss you, Lexi I love you, sweetie," he said.
He hugged them for the last time, and then they walked to their new room where they would be staying for probably the rest of their lives, at least the rest of her school life, until they turned eighteen they no longer had a home, and now a prison, a place for monsters to be free, a place to call home away from home, but all they wanted was their mom and dad just one last time.
A/n: welcome one and all to my new book. I hope you will enjoy Lexi's story. They are a non-binary dragon/fae, a new cosplay I created, and I wanted to share their story. I hope you will all like this new story, and I hope to write a lot of this book between this and other stories I have to edit. Still, I'm glad about one thing: I got a new keyboard, so now it won't take me as long to write. I'm so happy, haha. Now, I can do so much more work at once; my hands might hurt after writing so many words, but it's worth it, and I'm happy; sorry, it's in caps. I accidentally pressed caps, and I don't want to write it all again, so you'll get me shouting more to come soon.
