"Welcome to Jurassic." Claire spoke out, looking at the bewildered interns. I chuckled, bumping Owen on the shoulder as I pointed to them.
"Look at Emily, she looks like she's about to pass out from excitement." Owen pointed towards the short haired brunette.
"Look at Ryder." I whispered, pointing at the man, he looked like a kin in a candy shop. His hair was messy, and his stubble looked crazy. "I think he's going to die from excitement."
"Ehh." Owen replied. "Look at Rowan, she looks like she is about to squeal."
"She's a paleontologist, this is her first time seeing them breathing, not bony."
"I want to go pet the baby!" Gena pressed herself past the others, running out of the cover. My feet thought for me, pressing me forward quickly. I crutched quickly after her, yelling stuff like 'careful!' and 'Dammit Gena!'
"Look how beautiful." She whispered, walking towards the sleeping baby. It was beautiful, the way its head laid in the grass with its beak peeking out. Its small horns pointing towards us.
"Yeah." I whispered, maneuvering myself towards her. This grass was so patchy and pulled up. I haven't been here for two weeks, because of all the dead brachiosaurus and apatosaurus.
"I'm just glad they aren't in that petting zoo anymore, it wasn't fair for them." I reached forward on my one foot to pet the peaceful creature. She smiled, resting her hands next to me.
"How wasn't it fair?" her hair flipped over her shoulder.
"They gave kids rides for 16 hours without a break, and they fed them this lab concoction and not some actual plants or ferns." I pulled my hand away, readjusting the sleeve of my tank top.
"That's horrible," she remarked, rubbing the baby's rough skin.
"Yeah, that's why I liked working with the raptors, they didn't turn them into an attraction. Also, they are damn smart." I replied, rubbing my thumb in circles.
"I know. Did you read Alan Grants book? They could open doors! That's sick!" I chuckled, watching the girl pull away.
"Yeah, hey let's go check out that waterfall I was talking about! It's really nice during this time of day."
"I bet its even better at night." she winked. I felt my cheeks tinge red.
"Tess! Mary!" We heard Owen call behind us. He looked up and back, seeing him gesture towards the group.
"Coming!" Mary and I replied, turning on our heels. I followed behind her, trying not to get stuck in the upturned ground. Suddenly my crutch slipped from beneath my left arm. I fell forward, slamming my knee into the ground. I yelped in pain, reaching for it. Son of a bïtch!
"Tess!" I heard Ryder exclaim, running towards me. I hissed in pain as I tried to push myself up with my crutch, I had already sprained my knee, now it hurt like a bïtch again!
"Are you okay?" Ryder asked, grabbing my hips to press me upwards. I groaned, holding onto the crutch as he handed me the other.
"Yeah. Thanks." I muttered, hearing Owen's feet pounding against the grass as he got over. He ran fast, but not as fast as Ryder.
"No problem." Ryder breethed out, smiling widely. His teeth were pearly white! Gah!!
"Where did you learn to run like that?" Owen slowed to a walk, three yards from me.
"I just like running." Owen arrived with an uneasy look on his face, looking at me with wide eyes.
"Are you okay? Did you hurt it worse?" Owen grabbed my bicep, scanning my knee for any damage. It hurt like a bitch, but I wasn't going to tell him that.
