The birds had already started chirping when Ace was still trying to fall asleep, and yet, his eyes never got tired. He got up from the bed and almost gagged when he tried to brush his teeth. The clothes he was wearing were all wrinkled and smelly, but he didn't have the energy to take a shower. The sun had just risen, and his room felt cold and empty, since the sunlight wasn't hitting his window directly. He stretched a few muscles, and went to the kitchen to make himself a strong coffee, even though he didn't even like the taste of it, because he realized he won't be able to fall asleep too soon, so he might as well take advantage of the time he was awake.
Mihawk also joined him in the kitchen, grumpier than usual, and he started to cook breakfast. Ace was already sitting at the table, sipping on his extremely bitter coffee.
"That guy's such a pain in the ass... If I knew he was gonna cause so much trouble, I wouldn't have brought him here." Mihawk whispered under his mustache, referring to Marco.
Ace nodded, even though his friend didn't see him, and after the food was ready, they started to eat together.
"Should I wake that asshole up?" the golden eyed man cursed, before locking his fork into a big bite.
"No." Ace responded, almost absent-mindedly, with the same look on his face that stuck with him since last night, wishing to have had enough energy to roll his eyes.
Mihawk asked him if anything else happened since last night, but Ace denied everything, thinking that no one was in the right position to help him anymore. Suddenly, they both heard a loud thud coming from upstairs, along with some yells and curses. Ace immediately got up and took his coffee to his bedroom, knowing that Mihawk was gonna let his brother out of his room.
Once Marco stepped in the kitchen, he begged to get his phone back once again, but Mihawk decided he would only be allowed to speak to people who already knew about the operation, and only under his supervision. The blonde man wasn't very fond of that idea, but it was his only way of communication with the outside world, so he agreed. They called Shanks, and while the phone was ringing, Mihawk remembered that he should also call Tashigi today, to ask her some more questions. Even though he succeeded his task, he still had to make sure that nothing will slip out of his hand ever again.
Shanks picked up the phone, and they exchanged a boring dialogue, before Marco asked if you could come on on the phone instead. Mihawk was still watching over him, ready to snatch his phone out of his hand any second, but since you already knew about their plan, he didn't suspect the blonde man asking to talk to you. Because of that, Marco's plan was to tell you the real 'truth' about your boyfriend, wanting to take advantage of the fact that you didn't hear the conversation he had with Ace last night. He thought that if he made you believe that his brother was the killer, you would stop talking to him for good, and you would finally join his side. As soon as he heard your voice on the phone, he spoke as fast as he could, before Mihawk could interrupt the call.
"I need you to prepare yourself for this, y/n. Ace is actually the murderer. I don't know what he told you, and I know it's not my job to get between you, but he just confessed to me last night that he did, in fact, kill Whitebeard that day, and now he asked Mihawk to kill Teach because he wanted to get rid of his witness..."
"What the fuck are you talking about, you pineapple head?" Mihawk quickly snatched the phone out of his hand.
You didn't even have time to react to this, when Mihawk suddenly ended the call and slapped Marco across his face, leaving a red mark on his cheek, and shutting him up completely.
"Are you out of your mind? How could you say such things to y/n? What did she even do to you?!" the man yelled, as he reminded him who makes the rules in this house.
