Chapter Two

Once I arrive at the crime scene, the familiar scent reaches my nostrils.

But by now, I am used to it.

A small smile appears on my face as I see my sidekick.

I am not gonna tell you his name . . .

Never mind, it's not like he can get revenge by telling you guys.

His name is . . .

No way you actually thought I would actually tell you all.

It takes away from the . . . mystery.

Anyways, I greet Sidekick as he turns to Nathaniel.

He is our boss but . . . not our boss?

He works with us all the time, unlike usual bosses who just stay in their offices all the time.

That'd be cool except for the fact that he is a fucking smartass.

I hope one day he gets hit by a freight train.

Anyways, Nathaniel starts talking about  the scent.

Even though we have all already analyzed it.

"I believe we should go and search for where the smell is being produced, it might find it's way to lead us right too him!" Nathaniel says.

Oh my gosh.

Even his voice is annoying.

Sidekick probably noticed my slightly annoyed face.

Usually, I like to keep my face neutral.

It really makes life easier.

But Nathaniel makes me want to be the one to hit him with the freight train.

"We already tried sir." I  grumble with gritted teeth.

"What if he was just wearing too much coffee flavored perfume?" Sidekick  says, trying to lighten the situation.

Nathaniel's eyes raise as if he just heard the most stupidest thing he has ever heard.

He never knew how to take a fucking joke.

"That's so stupid! How could you ever consider that?! If that was the case, we would be-"

I don't even listen to the rest of Nathaniel's stupid rant.

I just take Sidekicks hand and walk towards the center of the crime scene.

"He's such a-" I exclaim, before being interrupted by sidekick.

"Nuh uh. No cursing." Sidekick says.

Even though he does agree.

"What's the plan?" Sidekick says as he examines his surroundings.

"You are going to look for the source of the smell." I say.

Before he can interrupt me, I continue.

"I know we already tried but just do your hardest and if you find nothin, that's alright. But don't spend all your time doing that. I am going to need your help if I find anything . . . useful. Got that?"

I see him pout a little bit.

"Yes ma'am . . ." Sidekick says quietly.

"Don't gimme that attitude." I say as he walks off to try and find the traces of the smell.

I decide that now is the time to go on an adventure of my own.

You see, this alleyway is a little strange . . . but to be fair, everything in Onyxbury is strange.
