Chapter Eleven

I wake up with a pounding headache.

I can already tell we've been in a crash.

Everything around me is a wreck.

I barely manage to turn my head to the side because of the pain,

but I manage.

Of course I managed,

I have a high pain tolerance.

And plus,

I am still a detective, remember?

Being able to manage evidence is basically my job!

So managing other stuff is easy peasy.

Anyways,

I don't see any cops, surprisingly.

I would imagine them to take us to the hospital and then detain us for whatever reason.

Those imbeciles just lost the criminal.

But hey,

it's in my favor anyways.

I push on the door a little bit,

it doesn't budge.

I don't have enough strength to actually do something right now.

I turn my head to Coffee,

he's just sitting there, eyes open.

I wondered if he was dead for a moment,

but he looked fine.

"Hey, you good?" I ask.

He slowly turns his head to me.

"What do you think? We just fuckin crashed you . . . you . . . you fuckin nincompoop!"

I laugh at his joke . . .

I hope it was a joke.

I could never say something like that unironically.

"Well, you seem all good." I mumble, still chuckling to myself.

"My legs are a little tingly but I'm all good." he sighs.

I smile.

Then, I manage to turn my head just enough to see Sidekick in the back,

arms crossed and an eyebrow raised.

Looks like I was the last one to wake.

"Are you two done romantically conversing?" he says as if he's a teenage boy who just witnessed his parents saying some lovey dovey shit to each other.

Usually, I'd slap him on the head.

But I couldn't.

My entire body hurts,

I am not wasting my time on that.

And plus,

his . . . clever choice of words made me laugh.

I guess those two hit their heads in the crash and now they're all smart.

What's next?

Will they start talking to me in William Shakespeare?

I chuckle at my thoughts.

I saw Coffee shoot Sidekick a glare before rolling his eyes and scoffing.

"Now that the romantic conversation has finished . . ." Coffee starts, giving Sidekick a semi-teasing glare.
