The next day was the tournament. Roxie and Luna had left Nimbasa early, by Luna's request, and were already in driftviel city. Wallace was in Steven's room, questioning him.

"So, what happened last night." Wallace asked curiously, "Don't tell me you fucked up again?"

"We had pizza..." Steven trailed off.

"And???"

"We made out." Wallace faceplanted. "And then she just left." Steven continued.

"She just left? She didn't say anything?"

"She said she couldn't do this and left."

"Steven, you suck at this." Wallace groaned.

The Pokemon World tournament arena was huge, about the same size as the Hearthome contest centre. She checked the lineup; she and Steven were in different sets. Their paths were unlikely to cross unless they both got to the finals. Being both champions, a possible face off was in play.

Anxiety bubbled in her stomach. Not because she didn't think she could beat Steven, but because she would have to seem him again after last night. She didn't get a wink of sleep last night because of him. She sat up all night debating whether she had made the right decision or not. She had come to the conclusion that she probably did not. He had told her it meant a lot to him, that the sex wasn't meaningless. And she had practically run away.

I Guess we're even now.

She didn't see Steven or Wallace until it was time for them to battle. She had already defeated her first matchup effortlessly, and Steven and Wallace did the same. The battles continued until the second round. She was up against Karen, of the Elite four.

"And now! Matchup 1 of round 2! Karen of the elite four! Versus! Luna, Champion of Sinnoh! This will be an interesting match, won't it folks!" a loud voice said over the speakers. It was customary for opponents to shake hands before the match, and as Luna walked up to her, Karen eyed her. She ignored her hand stuck out for her and carefully placed Luna's hair behind her ear, fingers tracing her jaw as she pulled away.

"Well, aren't you something? I wouldn't mind getting to know you better...maybe over dinner sometime...." She flirted with Luna, who immediately blushed, she had never gotten attention from a woman before, but it was thrilling.

Of course, from the sidelines Steven noticed the interaction. Wallace nudged him, "Looks like you, my friend, have got yourself a competitor." Steven brushed him off.

"I've beat Karen before in the PWT, she's nothing to worry about." He replied non-chalantly. Wallace smirked.

"I didn't mean it like that, loverboy."

Karen sent out an umbreon. Luna sent out her Purugly, Battuffolo. The battle commenced.

Something was off from the start. Something was sending her a deafening migraine at the beginning of the battle, Battufolo didn't need commands, but still, Luna was out of it. Flashes of darkness danced across her vision, like a publicity interrupting a main show. Darkness filled her vision; it was the ocean in the distortion world. She saw a great dark shadow flitter in and out of the water.

"Stop the fight." She whispered. it went unheard from everybody except batuffolo and Tofu at her side, who pawed her leg. In the moment of distraction, a dark pulse landed a critical hit on Batuffolo, she took it.

The shadow moved closer and closer, its dark wings spread as it approached the girl, drowning and suffocating in the water.

"Stop the fight." She said a little louder, clutching her head and stumbling backwards. A quick attack hit Battufolo, but Karen hadn't noticed something was wrong. The skitty at her side ran into the arena to stop the fight.
