Chapter 14

Jordan and I began to find something to wear to the masquerade party. Jordan had a few phone calls to make before we left. Everything seemed to be going so good, but I knew tonight would be hell. I didn't trust Joseph. He could plan out this party and pretend it was all fun and games, but I have been doing this for a while now and I knew it was all a game. This party was a cover up for something I just didn't know what and until I found out I wouldn't be comfortable. As Jordan and I try to find something to wear to the party I give Jazmine a call. "Hey girly, I was wondering if you could do my hair today, I have a party to get to. You're more than welcome to tag along. You and Beanie", I said. I needed them to come, I knew Jazmine would have a good time and I needed a friend's support tonight. If I was going to walk into the lions den I needed people I could trust. "Of course I'll be right over. Just let me grab some things and call Beanie to let him know. I'll see you then", she said. "Okay, see you then", I said hanging up the phone. I had taken out my clothes and laid them on my bed, this time I'll wear black. I lay out my all black outfit it was just black suit pants and a black shirt with diamond rhinestones on the collar. I decided to wear silver accessories and my silver heels.

I walk down stairs to find something to eat before we leave. I knew that the party would have food, but I might as well eat a little first before I got there and didn't have an appetite. My nerves were starting to get the best of me and I needed something to do, so making something to eat was a start. I hear a knock at the front door and put my food down to answer it. I see Beanie and Jazmine and I let them in. "Girl let's do your hair so we can all get dressed", Jazmine said smiling. "Hey Taylor how have you been",Beanie said giving me a side hug. "I'm, good", I said. I was putting on a brave face, I didn't want them to know how nervous I really was. "So Jaz I already washed my hair, if you could just press me out again", I said. "Girl I've gotchu come on sit down and tell me how you got invited to the party", Jazmine said. I sit down as she began to do my hair and told her how I had met Joseph I left out some details, like me killing someone, the cartel, and what tonight was really about. I didn't want to scare her we had just started building a friendship. "So he invited me to this party and of course I had to ask you to come", I said finishing the story.

A few minutes later and Jazmine was done with my hair. Jordan came out of his room all dressed and Beanie came out of the bathroom dressed as well. Jordan had on a black and white suit and was carrying a white mask for both of us to wear. Beanie had on a black suit with a red mask for him and Jazmine. "Yall still not dressed", Beanie said as he fixed his cuff link. "Bae you know these things take time for a woman ,plus we're not even late yet", Jazmine said. Beanie slapped Jazmine on the butt,"Well it's best you get going then woman", he said bitting his lip. Jordan slowly walked up to me and grabbed my hand looking into my eyes, it's like he knew I was nervous. " Follow me to my room", I asked. He nodded his head and followed as I walked to my room to get dressed.

I was putting on my clothes and talking to Jordan at the same time. "Are we riding separately", I said. I needed to know, I needed to fill Jordan in on somethings before we left. "No i got a limo. Why", he asked? I could see the look of confusion on his face. "Okay that's fine", I said back, but I was mentally slapping my forehead. I needed to be alone with him for just a second. "Is everything okay baby, you seem tense", he said. "Yeah I'm fine, just ready for tonight to be over with", I said. He walked over to me and hugged me and as I laid my head on his chest I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. His touch always calmed me down, I don't know how he does it, but it works every time. "Let's get out of here. I've got my gun so if anything goes down just know I've I gotchu", he said lifting my head so I would look into his eyes. I knew he meant what he said but I would make sure to grab my gun too just in case.

I finish getting dressed and we walk outside to the limo. Jazmine and I were looking like a million bucks if I do say so myself and she was ready to have a good time. We get into the limo and inside was champagne and a radio in the back so that we could change the music. Jazmine and I grab a glass of champagne and began to drink. "Are you ready to party tonight", Jazmine said. " Yeah this should be fun", I said faking a smile. After a long ride we finally stop once we got to the huge mansion. There were so many cars outside they had to have someone directing traffic and do valet. As we got out of the car we all put on our mask before entering. "Welcome Ms.Taylor and the Sanchez family", the door men said greeting us as we walked in.
