IT HAD BEEN WEEKS since Patrick had beaten Art in their match, which also meant it had been weeks since he had won Amelie's number. Despite this victory, Patrick had yet to contact Amelie, leaving her a mix of curious and worried. Days passed with Amelie eagerly anticipating a text or a call from him, but each day ended in disappointment.

Amelie couldn't help but feel concerned. Why hadn't he reached out? Did he lose interest? Did he think she wasn't worth it after all? These thoughts nagged at her, and she started to doubt if Patrick was ever going to reach out. As the days turned into weeks, her hope slowly dwindled. She even confided in her friend Gem about the situation, hoping for some advice.

"Maybe he's just busy, Amelie," Gen suggested during one of their conversations. "You know how guys can be. Sometimes they get caught up in their own worlds."

"Yeah, maybe," Amelie replied, though her tone revealed her uncertainty. "I just thought he was different, you know? He seemed genuinely interested when we talked after the match."

Gen nodded sympathetically. "I guess all you can do is wait a little longer and see what happens. If he's really worth it, he'll find a way to contact you."

One night, Amelie decided it was time to give up on Patrick. She thought that maybe he had lost his chance and she deserved someone who would treat her like a priority. Just as she settled into bed and closed her eyes, prepared to let go of her hopes, her phone buzzed on her nightstand. Her heart leapt with a mix of excitement and disbelief, and she quickly grabbed the phone, hoping against hope that it was Patrick.

This time, it actually was him. A wave of relief washed over her, but she couldn't help feeling a flicker of annoyance. Why had he waited so long to contact her? Before she could fully express her irritation, Patrick quickly explained that he had broken his phone right after the match and had been waiting to get a new one. His apology was sincere, and despite her initial frustration, Amelie couldn't help but smile at the situation. She was just happy to finally talk to him.

That night, they spoke for hours, sharing everything that had happened in their lives since they last saw each other. What was meant to be a quick conversation stretched late into the night. The minutes turned into hours, and before they knew it, it was five in the morning. Their voices filled with laughter and genuine interest, creating a connection that felt both familiar and new.

As the conversation deepened, Patrick admitted, "I was really nervous about calling you. After all this time, I wasn't sure if you'd even want to talk to me."

Amelie chuckled softly. "Honestly, I was starting to think you weren't interested. But I'm really glad you reached out."

Eventually, Amelie's eyes grew heavy, and she fell asleep with the phone still pressed to her ear, Patrick's voice gently fading into her dreams.

The next morning, Amelie woke up to the surprising realization that the call was still connected. At first, she was confused. Why hadn't he hung up after she had fallen asleep? She rubbed her eyes and listened closely, hearing the faint sound of breathing on the other end.

"Pat, are you there?" Amelie croaked, her voice still groggy from sleep.

She heard a soft hum in response, followed by a sleepy, "Yeah, I'm here."

Amelie smiled at the thought of him staying on the line all night. "Hey, sorry for falling asleep on you," she said with a light laugh. "I have practice in like 10 minutes, though, so I'll have to talk to you later."

"No worries," Patrick replied, sounding much more awake now. "Good luck with practice. Let's talk again soon?"

Amelie nodded, even though he couldn't see her. "Definitely," she agreed, feeling a warmth spreading through her chest at the thought of their next conversation.

As she hung up the call and got ready for her day, Amelie felt a renewed sense of anticipation. The connection with Patrick was more real than ever, and she looked forward to what the future might hold for both of them. She couldn't help but think about their next conversation and wondered if this unexpected relationship could blossom into something more.

Later, at her practice, Amelie couldn't stop thinking about Patrick. The coaches' instructions drifted in and out of focus as her mind replayed snippets of their conversation from the night before. Even her friends noticed her distracted demeanor, teasing her about being lost in thought.

After practice amelie made her way quickly home and the first thing thag she done was check her phone. Her father's number one rule for the girl was to never have her phone whilst training claiming that it was going to distract her from winning.

Luckily for the girl she had a message from patrick waiting for her, the night before when the two had been talking they were trying to figure out when the next time they would be able to see each other was.

Coincidentally Amelie had been booked to make an apearamve at the same competition Patrick and Art were planned to be competing at and now that it had been definitely confirmed that they were both going to be there they started counting down the days.
