CHAPTER THREE

(2013-2014)

During the entire summer vacation, all we really did was go out. Why? Halos araw-araw na kaming magkasama ni Reinz. But that doesn’t mean I have feelings for him already. Yes, I’m comfortable with his presence, but that doesn’t mean there’s something more between us. Madali siyang pakisamahan and he adjusts everything for me.

After we talked that night, nahuli kami ni ate Judy na nagyayakapan, and that’s how she found out there was something going on between us. I thought she would be against it, but it turns out she wasn’t. Mas suportado pa nga siya sa akin kaysa sa ex ni Reinz. Hindi daw kasi sila nagkakasundo ni Queenie dahil sa ugali na meron siya.

I also told Ate Judy not to tell my brother yet because he might get mad at me and tell our parents. Luckily, she agreed.

Hindi ko maitatanggi na hindi ko minamadali ang bagay na tungkol sa relasyon na iyan. Besides, he promised me that he would wait for me no matter how long it takes. That’s a good thing, right? He’ll wait for the time when I’m ready.

Ate Judy is at our house today because my brother is sick.

When she came out of my brother’s room, we bumped into each other since our rooms are next to each other. "Oh, Fern," she greeted me with a smile.

“Kamusta si Kuya?” I asked gently.

“Kumain na siya ng sopas na dala ko. Kumain na ba kayo?” she replied.

“Oo, tapos na.” I smiled, but then something came to mind. “By the way, Ate, alam mo ba kung saan nakatira si Reinz?”

“Of course! I’ve watched that kid grow up,” she said with a smile. “Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na may something pala sa inyo,” she teased.

“Ah, hehe...” I gave her a nervous laugh kasi hindi ko alam kung paano siyang sagutin.

I know there’s already something between us since Reinz is courting me, pero hinihintay ko pa rin ang sarili ko na magbago ang pagtingin ko sa kanya.

“I remember him mentioning a girl to us... That was about two years ago. He said he found one of his classmates cute. Kwenento niya pa na palagi siyang nagpapansin sa babaeng iyon daw. Paraan niya para makuha ang atensiyon nung girl.” Natigilan ako. I noticed Ate Judy smiling knowingly, but I didn’t respond. “He didn’t mention her name, though. But he did say that when he finally brings her to meet us, he’ll make sure they’re already a couple by then. Sobrang sweet niya noh?”

'Ako 'yon.'

I wanted to tell Ate Judy that I’m the girl Reinz was talking about, but I couldn’t bring myself to say it. Something was holding me back, so I just let it go.

“Uuwi na ako, sasabay ka ba?” she asked.

I scratched my head. “Kung ayos lang po, Ate.”

“Of course, anything for you,” she smiled. “Pero ito lang ang masasabi ko, Fern...” I looked at her. “Hindint-hindi ka magsisisi sa pinsan ko.”

We were on our way to Reinz’s house, and I was nervous because I didn’t know why he wanted me to come over. There wasn’t any special occasion, or was there? I wasn’t sure.
