Welcome to my vent fic)"Catra!" Adora's throat tore as she screamed for her friend. "I told them I didn't want to go!"
Catra lashed her tail over and over. "You're leaving me again."
Adora shook her head, writhing against the vines that held her in place behind the line of rebels.
"No, Catra! Help me! I want to stay with you!"Catra's eyes flashed towards the princesses, and Bow, who were forming a ragged semi-circle around Adora. Adora became furious, she didn't need rebels to defend her. She had to get free, now.
Catra addressed Glimmer first."You hear that?" The Horde soldier sneered. "Give me back my prisoners. I earned them." Her claws glinted in the half-light.
"You hurt Adora, and let Perfuma get hurt too." Glimmer raised a hand, blocking Catra from Adora's sight. Her voice shook with determination. The princess brought her other hand close to her chest, clenching her fist passionately while she retorted, "We're taking them back!"
Adora leaned down to bite at the creeping stems around her chest, but she couldn't quite reach. She was distracted as Catra turned her steely glare on Scorpia.
"You can either help me now, or I will have you sent to Beast Island for your betrayal."Scorpia stared back at her, conflicted.
"Look, Wildcat, I think it isn't healthy for you to keep Adora around."Catra hissed in rage.
"You don't get to question my orders. Are you helping me, or do you want t-"Shadow Weaver thrust an arm forward, slamming Catra with a small knock-back spell. The cat rolled on the ground and sprang to all fours, snarling. She drew herself back up to her feet and lunged at Shadow Weaver, who appeared to be fatigued now.
"You aren't taking Adora from me!" Catra's shrill cry rang out across the open area, echoing off metal structures.
"You took everything else!"Catra rammed into the tired old woman, lashing her claws across her already-once-broken mask. Shadow Weaver stumbled back, holding her arm up to protect her mask, letting her forearm take the slash instead. Blood spattered across Catra, Shadow Weaver, and anything nearby. The group erupted into shouts of anger and panic while Catra leaped for her abuser again.
Adora was horrified.
"Catra, no!" She squirmed in the vines, which suddenly began to feel loose. Perfuma must be distracted. If she could just... It wasn't working. She couldn't even free one of her limbs. And what then, punch the vines?Adora. A monotone voice crept into her thoughts amidst the chaos. Adora listened to the voice and watched Catra avoiding attacks from the entire group, aside from the injured Shadow Weaver. You know how to become stronger.
Adora broke into a cold Sweat.
No. She doesn't want me to.She couldn't ignore it. Her eyes shut tight. The voice was right- she had a power that could be the only thing keeping her at Catra's side... even if Catra hated her for it. Fight for the honor of-
"-Grayskull!" Adora was shouting the words before she could even begin to figure out their meaning.
Adora waited, and waited, and opened her eyes. Nothing happened. Except that the group stopped in their tracks and stared at Adora. They seemed to be waiting for something, or rather, looking at Adora with those pathetic wide-saucer eyes. Even Catra looked shocked.
Snap, snap. Went the vines around her arms and legs. Crack went the cuffs around her wrists. Adora looked down... to see that the ground was now about a foot or so father down than before. She gave a startled gasp as she observed her muscular form, and saw a sort of glowing aura spreading across her skin.
