"Soobin? Earth to Soobin?"
The said man snapped out of his trance and turned to look back at Chaeryeong.
"Ah— sorry. I got distracted. Actually, I haven't really thought about resigning. Although I don't really like the job, you girls took care of me so well and I feel comfortable around you..."
"Yah, hearing that touched my heart" Ryujin came out of nowhere to interrupt the conversation and sat next to Soobin with a wide smile.
"Yes, yes, I didn't know Soobin-oppa likes us as much as we like him" Yuna came out too.
"Since when have you two been eavesdropping?"
The three girls laughed. "Doesn't matter. I'm happy to hear your mother is recovering. But you don't have to force yourself to keep coming to work here, y'know? We can still be friends outside" Yuna added.
"Are you guys shooing me away or what?" Soobin pretended to sulk. The short haired girl smacked him on the shoulder "Nonsense! No one's shooing you. We're just saying you can leave if you want to. It's not like I want you to leave, though"
"I'm not going anywhere just yet, don't worry" Soobin chuckled.
The four coworkers continued chatting in a comforting atmosphere. Soobin thought of how lucky he was to have these girls by his side.
"Ah, right. I almost forgot. The big boss wants to see you" Ryujin told Soobin.
"Big boss? You mean Mr. Park?"
"Duh, who else?"
Soobin gulped. Meeting with the boss so suddenly? Should he dig a hole and crawl in it instead?
Yeji is their manager who runs the place, but she doesn't own the club. There's another man who's the owner and basically the big boss of all of them. Soobin only met him a few times, and each time he was scared out of his mind.
It wasn't like the big boss did anything bad to him, it was the fierce look and intimidating fashion sense that got Soobin nervous. You could even say he was overreacting.
"A-and? Why does he want to see me?"
"I dunno... don't forget to ask Yeji for the time and place of the meeting"
Soobin nodded. He was feeling uneasy all of a sudden. Yuna noticed and said "Don't worry! You haven't done anything wrong, there's nothing to be afraid of. I've always thought Mr. Park is a soft puppy behind his tough guy persona. Maybe he wants to reward you or something?"
"Yuna's right. He's been nothing but kind to us, don't chicken out just yet" Chaeryeong added.
"Hm.. I hope everything goes well"

Three Days Later
On the piano stool sat Huening Kai with a somber face. His fingers pressing aimlessly at the black and white keys, creating soft, melancholic notes, akin to how he was feeling.
He hasn't gone to school for the past three days. He'd rather spend time practicing at home before the exam than going to school.
That was one of the reasons. The other one being not wanting to see those people who invalidated his feelings and made him feel unwanted. Do they even care? Perhaps they didn't even realize it was his birthday.
